The Flood / Making GoFundMe $$$
« on: August 20, 2016, 11:03:47 PM »
What would be an easy way to make money off this site? I'm looking to move and purchase a new car in hopes of creating a large enough lifestyle change to get me out of my current state of depression, but I don't think that's enough of a sob story for people to begin throwing cash my way.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

The Flood / I'm now twenty-one

And I am prepared; starting with this before I move on down the line to fancy things I've got stashed away.

Not that I'm not already a drinker, but being able to legally purchase it for myself is more than just a teensy bit nice. So, anybody got any good liqueur suggestions?

The Flood / AMA Getting a Second Job
« on: June 14, 2016, 01:40:31 AM »
Currently looking for one. I've reached that point in my life where I'm honestly bored out of my fucking mind when I'm not on the clock, making that money cash money.

I'm already working food service and am thinking of going to a gas station for late/overnights, with the hope of that night time pay. I'm nocturnal anyway, so it's a win-win regardless.

The Flood / Headphones

Mine'll be coming in around a month. I'm a bit disappointed by the fact, as I expect a more immediate delivery, but I can't say I'm not excited. Spent a pretty hefty sum on them and from sound demos and meets I've been to, there's really no doubt in my mind I made the right choice.

Still need to upgrade the rest of my audio set-up to get some decent results, but I think I've settled on Schiit for the time being. Might get the O2/ODAC once Massdrop has them available once more.

But enough about me, what have you guys got going on? Are you instead a speakers connoisseur?

The Flood / To all my Amp/DAC bros
« on: February 15, 2016, 07:47:29 PM »
Recently used a sizable portion of my refund in an effort to upgrade my audio set-up, and am currently looking to upgrade from the $30 Amp/DAC combo going on right now. From what I understand, there always comes a point where the price to gain ratio begins to steadily drop off, up until the point where you need to spend thousands of dollars to get any sort of improvement in your audio.

So my budget as of right now is $300, and I'm struggling as to what would be the best option available to me. I'm thinking of going with either a variation of the O2/ODAC combo (perhaps wait for the sleek Massdrop version to drop again?), or just settle for Schiit; from what I've heard the Schiit Stack is pretty great in regards to price/quality, though the Bifrost and Lyr version of said stack is one of the best on the market, even though it's expensive as hell.

If anyone could drop some advice on what I should get, please do so. If you can convince me of some other, cheaper, alternative, then all the better.

Gaming / Demon's Souls
« on: February 14, 2016, 01:33:05 AM »
Is there anyone who still plays this dated, clunky gem of a game?

I have a habit of jumping back into it every half a year or so, consistently completing it despite the increasingly obvious technical inferiority when compared to its numerous successors. There's just something about the game that speaks to me, a feeling of desolation and despair I never felt with new Souls games; there's that innate bleakness to the game's atmosphere that actually feels oppressive, as if despite setting out to [save the world/seek demon's souls], there really isn't much of a [world left to save/reason beyond having power for the sake of power]. Everything feels finished and worn out, like an old man ready to take the long nap and knows that all he needs to do is close his eyes for a little while to make it happen.

"You fool. Don't you understand? No one wishes to go on…"

It's a wonderful game, that despite the innate flaws and the obviously cut portions, still stands up to even the most recent games. It being great in regards to consistency and quality is still one of the biggest pluses, something that Dark Souls was all over the place about, despite being the fan favourite ‒ the disparity between that first and second half of the game always destroys my desire for a full replay. Not even Gwyn can salvage late game for me.

Gaming / Anybody else play NationStates?
« on: February 08, 2016, 05:19:54 PM »
I ask, because I have been going at it for almost two years now. I know many like to roleplay the political and economic aspects of the nations under their control, though I've never really felt the need. I find satisfaction in management, and keeping the growing nation from stagnating.

What was once a corporate run wasteland of economic opportunity has grown into a powerhouse of social freedom, rife with religious pilgrims settling on what is now holy land and immigrants searching for a better life in a healthy, technologically advanced society without poverty. Taxes are insane, what with the recent war against and resulting annexation of Brasilistan, but it is to be expected.

Spoiler
It was steadily dropping from 60% before the International Incident issue gave it a 25% boost.

But then look! Lead by Emperor Solon Norn, the nation has flourished since the dark times.

Gaming / Just started playing Warframe
« on: December 30, 2015, 05:16:16 AM »
Or, more accurately, just finished the Vor introductory questline, which basically means I'm now truly passed the veil of complete noobdom.

Chose the Excalibur frame at the start due to the game's recommendation, though I slightly regret not choosing something more ability focused. Still have everything basic, aside from dropping the MK1 for the normal Braton (though I seriously miss that mag-size), and so I find myself with questions before I head off into the unknown.

First, how do you unlock codex entries? I know I could simply look this stuff online, but I feel as if it's something I should be doing as if I, myself, am a Tenno search for this strange setting's knowledge. From what I've seen it's intensely interesting, and I don't what to miss out on what the game has to offer.

Second, is there any way to reliably get platinum for some of the heftier frames/weapons? Buying it is a simply solution, but I'm not exactly looking to drop cash on this game.

Gaming / Planning to build a Gaming PC (advice welcome)
« on: November 11, 2015, 10:56:30 PM »
And as it stands, I'm going to have to buy everything, from the desk and chair to the peripherals and the PC parts itself. I've been living and gaming on a laptop for forever and it's simply not cutting it anymore.

This is the parts list I've got going on, focusing more on practicality than aestheticism. My budget for the PC itself is around $1850, and I'm sorta curious if there's any improvements (necessary to the build or upgrade-wise) that I should be making. I'm thinking on a liquid cooler for the CPU over the Noctua, and maybe another fan on the side just in-case the two I have aren't enough to keep the core temperature down.

I also plan to buy some speakers and another graphics card, but that's ultimately later on down the line, because it's going to take a little while to scrape up the cash for this anyway.

Just thought I'd share, and I'm welcome to any advice you guys might offer.
