There's no need to get mad over it. EDIT: I also didn't see you mentioning that freedom of speech/expression was a basic human right and you did say that one's human rights are up for debate.

The "greater good" is a relative term. The greatest possible good that I've been able to come up with is if we all peacefully drove ourselves to extinction by means of reproductive abstinence (no humans = no suffering).

As long as we persist as a species, however, it would be in our collective best interest to make the world the best and most comfortable place to live in possible. Every individual is entitled to a comfortable existence--because they never asked to be here in the first place. When you move to China, you are not entitled to anything (beyond your basic human rights, which can be debated upon), because you made the choice to go there.

Well no shit you shouldn't waltz into people's houses and expect free things. When you're forced into an imposition such as life, you'd better have some grade-A compensation. That is the greater good: the mitigation of all of life's potential disutility or discomfort. I don't see how you could contest this. Why are we entitled to "grade-A compensation" for simply being alive?

Film is in russkie? Watch it in russkie.
Chinese cartoon is in Jap? Watch it in jap.
TV show is in French? Burn it.

I wouldn't say "better" because detecting a language, especially Japanese, is hard. People don't take in the tone, pacing (which is the hardest one), and emotion. Loud =/= good. Especially when a lot of Japanese people have said that in anime, a lot of the voice actors are over dramatic and energetic. You know Dynasty Warriors dubbed and how it's silly and over the top, but in a good way? Basically that.
Examples of great dubs though?

Dragon Ball Z (Goku subbed is horrible)
Full Metal Alchemist
Persona 4 (it was a game, but an anime too so shut up)

There are countless examples of dubbed things actually being good. It's just the quality of the voice actor/actress and the direction they want them to take the characters.
Anyone who says all dubs sound like shit and all of Japanese stuff is great, clearly don't know a lick about voice acting, and how they can't even listen to another language and see if it's good or bad for almost 90% of it. Now is it true that more Japanese voice actors are more talented in the field of anime? I would say yes since they have a large industry and schools focused on it. But they are just as hit and miss as dubs can be.
Edit: At the end of the day, it almost ALWAYS falls to preference. I enjoy both, and will swap it up with dub and sub with a few things. However when I do run into anime/games that are just awful in dubbed voice acting, I will make every effort to change that language to Japanese.

In every foreign television program or movie I've ever seen the dub actors were terrible. Why do studios that localize foreign movies and shows always choose such bad voice actors? A lot of you are anime fanatics so if anyone would be able to give me answers it would be one of you guys.
