I'm proud of myself for having started this recent trend of urination related threads.

Even though I don't agree with you on a lot of things I hold no ill will against you. I just felt like parodying your thread.

But they so clearly are when you look at what they speak or post about?

Their bullshit is ALWAYS exactly the same:
1) Calling the person who disagrees with them a racist, sexist, misogynist, etc.

2) Going to great lengths to belittle and disregard the points of their opponents and pretend they're morally superior.

3) Some anecdotal story of a trivial experience that they attempt to exaggerate and paint as egregious racism.

4) My favorite, ad hominem attacks on the other party, OP, or the topic of discussion. (Example, someone makes arguments about affirmative action policies being anti-meritocratic, racists say he deserves to be discriminated against and dehumanized because he’s a Caucasian male)

5) Claim X community is racist and or sexist, because of supposed lack of representation in given community. (The Gamers are sexist/racist argument)

There needs to an open discussion on the toxic insanity in the left. The above 5 points are the clearest indication that the discussion needs to happen.

So, why do so many progressives say this shit?

most people who consider themselves egalitarian aren't egalitarian

The long story short here is that you guys are fucked no matter who gets in.
I feel like this is all you ever seem to contribute to these types of discussions, and it's kind of grating, to be honest.

Yes, we're all fucked--but the idea is that we're trying to figure out the least worst option. That's the strategy. We can sit here with our thumbs up our asses and just say "We're doomed!" OR we can try to figure out the best way to mitigate the consequences of doom.

So yes, we're all fucked. We know; it's tautological. How does that help us?

How exactly are we all fucked?

Serious / Re: Introductory book suggestions?
« on: February 18, 2016, 10:01:40 PM »
In terms of economic history, the book I'd recommend starting with is Deaton's The Great Escape: Health, Wealth and the Origins of Inequality. It's a nice introduction to how economic development has played out over the course of human history. Guns, Germs and Steel, while not explicitly a book about economics, is a must. Acemoglu's Why Nations Fail is also worth reading.

If you want to know more about U.S. economic history--specifically regarding business cycles--then check out Milton Friedman and Anna Schwartz's A Monetary History of the United States. I also have some papers on specific periods of U.S. history, if you're interested just let me know and I'll post a bunch.

EDIT: Niall Ferguson's The Ascent of Money is a very good look at the history of the financial system, and one of its main selling points is that Ferguson managed to win a $98,000 bet with a hedge fund manager by predicting in early 2007 that there would be a recession within five years because of the research he did for the book. His other book, Civilization, is also one I like but it's less well-accepted academically.

In terms of micro you're probably best off just picking up a textbook and working your way through. Mankiw's is the go-to. I have a lot of papers on the microeconomic role of government--things like pensions, healthca

I'll definitely check out Deaton's work and especially Friedman's since I'm already somewhat aware of who he is. Also, I'd love to read some of the papers you have on US economic history. Do you know of some good guides that can introduce a laymen to the language of economics? I figure I should have a working knowledge of this subject since it pertains to everyday life.

Perhaps this doesn't belong in Serious but I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for good introductory books on the subjects of microeconomics and economic history.

Also, Kupo wasn't manipulated by Verbatim into doing anything. Kupo posted the PMs knowing full well that he would be banned for doing so.
Yes, we all know he's lying to save face. It's been said twenty thousand times.

You can stop lying in an effort to make yourself look cool now. I chatted with Kupo moments after he posted the PMs and there was no mention of you goading him into posting them. He just wanted a hiatus from the site.

You've still failed to address that you're an inhuman sack of garbage.
I will, right when you address that you're a scumfuck lowlife who deserves nothing but the worst the universe has to offer, just for being a nihilist and claiming that nothing matters. If you think nothing matters, I hope you get the absolute worst of it. Then talk to me about how it doesn't matter.

This site would be so much better if you were to stop posting. I can't emphasize how much of an improvement it would be.

The Flood / Re: Wait, so why was Kupo blacklisted?

He posted them so that he could "prove" that I care about my right to privacy and shit (because there was another privacy argument going on at the time), but see, I really don't, and he only served to prove my point further.

The reason I was telling him not to post the PMs was because I specifically wanted him to (and I knew he would), so that he'd get himself banned, like the cheap, easily-manipulable marionette dumbass little faggot bitch that he is.

Posting PMs is against the rules regardless of the sender's personal feelings about it--it's a matter of quashing drama, as Psy put it; not necessarily to protect the user's rights.

This is why you have no friends. You didn't manipulate Kupo into doing anything. He just wanted a break from your vitriol and a laugh.

Septagon / Re: Daily reminder that Kupo's ban was bullshit
« on: February 11, 2016, 02:35:58 AM »
There was a bigger rule update before that one and a smaller one after.

While PMs aren't explicitly stated in the rules, the only thing they could possibly fall under is the "etc." of the no sharing personal information. Which is why I want to talk to Psy about it.

I know I'm beating a dead horse with this but.... isn't that what the HQ forum should be for? Where mods should check in at least once a day about issues?

God I really miss RAHQ back on Bungie. Shit is just not the same anymore.

Well, whenever you see Psy next, just bring up about how I used to get the same crap with Chally, and if the PM contents were really worth a blacklist.

HQ is mainly used for drafts, tests, and things that need to be archived for a later purpose. Once in a blue moon there's a big "heads up" notice that gets put in there regarding something on the forum. Skype is used for quick chats to discuss things because its in real time and things flow easier.

So HQ really isn't an HQ. Its just another storage forum like Destiny.

What's wrong with that?

Almost as intelligent as conflating feminism with Christianity for some unknown autistic reason.
