Instead of getting pissed and demanding justice when somebody acts racist (which this is not a case of, its just another case of antibipartisanship) shouldn't you laugh at/feel bad for them?

Not to mention, unless somebody is being racist on the surface, and has no better reason to dislike someone than the color of their skin (which is not the case with Obama) then how do you come to the conclusion that they're being racist, unless you're just always thinking about how he's black and the guy yelling is white, at which point you seem to be just as racially charged as you presume the man yelling at the president is.

Nah, it was TOTD, and he pretty much decided what everybody's title would be and it was manual update.

for you to think that the is all right, would mean that you agree with some things about him.
no, it would just mean that i get along with him casually
i could probably chill with him offline, play some video games or go bowling or something stupid like that

some of my best friends offline are people who i disagree with on everything
i'm still able to hang out and get along with them though

it's hard to be me and find people who agree with you on a great deal of things anyway
Yeah, I admire how dedicated Verb is to his ideals, as I've never convinced him of pretty much anything, and I consider myself to be a persuasive individual.

Well, not quite as persuasive here, because even though we like to call each other autistic a lot, the vast majority of Floodians are bright individuals who are somewhat well informed.

And when I say that, I mean before b.next.

As for desty, I guess I pick on him too much, but I generally make a. oint to never seriously state deference for anyone, as I would hate to lose even a single member of our community, because that I adverse to our growth, something I quite sincerely care about.

Why does there always have to be a race issue with everything when Obama is involved?
Because racism is still a thing in our country, and his race is the most distinguishing thing between he and his predecessors. Again, I'm not saying it IS racism, but damn it sure seems like it.
Wait, isn't it more racist to bring up his race when nobody else has?

If you believe that the color of a person's skin is a distinguishable trait, then aren't you the one with the racially charged mindset?
acknowledging someone's race and treating them different because of it are two different things. talking about race is not racist.
The only path to a post racism culture is ignoring race.

By failing to do so you are perpetuating racism.

but we aren't trying to become a world that ignores race.
Yeah, racist assholes like you are holding us back.
acknowledging that race exists is not racist.
Why bother making note of something if its inconsequential?
because race is the distinguishing factor between Obama and his predecessors. Did you not read any of this thread?
I find it odd that I don't consider race to be a trait that distinguishes people, but you do, and I'm the one who's racist just because I disagree with his political policies more than I disagreed with his predecessor's.

Had you ever considered that Obama would still be a bad president if he were white?
Again, I'm not even talking about his policies or even how you feel about him. I'm talking about how he is treated by his colleagues on the hill.
I explained to you earlier; that is the way the president has been treated by opposing politicians for a very long time.

Since John Adams.

If you don't remember his predecessors being treated that way, you were not paying attention.

Furthermore, race is not a distinguishing trait unless you ate a racist.

It has never crossed my mind that the flak Obama gets could be racial, because I'm not racist.

I see plenty of reason a person on the other side of the aisle would want to publicly heckle him, and as I have just stated, I have never presumed its about race.

Face it Max, you're the only racist in this thread.
I'm a racist because I realize that some people treat people differently because of their race?

Well fuck. Wish I lived in your perfect little bubble where you don't even know racism is a thing.
You're racist because you assert that race makes people different from each other in a way that is worth noting.

That's what racism is all about.

If a difference is worth noting, it is worth comparing objectively, and objective comparison results in the assertion that one I objectively better or worse.

Therefore, if one is not better or worse,it is not worth comparing, and therefore not worth noting.
I brought up race because, aside from his race, Obama does not differ much from his predecessors who were not treated the way he has been treated.
And you've made a point not to address it any of the times I've said they've been treated the same for 220 years.

Shit, they used to get away with alot worse in the nineteenth century.

If you are not a believer of affirmative action, then you are not a member of the feminist movement.
I've never heard this before, from anybody else, so... I'm gonna take that with a tiny grain of salt. I don't consider myself to be a part of any social "movements" (except for maybe gay marriage, but lookey-loo, mission accomplished). I just have this belief that women ought to have the same rights as men, and I've been taught quite thoroughly that this is feminism at its core.
That's the problem, right there.

I know what you meant to say, but in translation between your ideals and your rhetoric, a subconscious idea has affected the way you said it, and it basically means "Women should have more rights than they do now" when you should be saying "Everybody should enjoy the same rights any other person enjoys"

You know what you meant, by in esposition to uninformed parties, you're presenting a very one sided argument, because feminism has been about the advancement of women to equality for 100 years, and now that we're as close as we are we need to abandon that movement and adopt a gender neutral name, and gender neutral rhetoric for equality.

Femisim is a movement I neither support nor identify with, because of its sometimes radical nature and tendency on demanding affirmative action, which I believe is a form of racism and sexism.

Feminism isn't a philosophy, it's a social agenda.
it's a philosophy, though

and i'm also vehemently against affirmative action

you can't just shoehorn the feminists with which you disagree with ALL feminists
that's kinda unfair and stupid
He is unfair and stupid.
You're still mad about the automatic downvote thing?

And no verb, it is a social movement.
The philosophy you subscribe to is one of equality, and it has been around since long before the social movement which adopted the moniker "Feminism" in the 20th century.

It may be a movement which ascribes to a philosophy of equality, but you can't let that movement define, and certainly not become synonymous with the philosophy, especially considering the change the movement has taken since its conception.

Right now the biggest bullet on the feminist agenda is more affirmative action, often characterized in their "Glass Ceiling" argument.

If you are not a believer of affirmative action, then you are not a member of the feminist movement.
(and i think I was fair in saying sometimes radical)

All other things I could pry on aside, the name of the movement (obviously) has a pro female lean, which is what attracts radicals.

In order to put a stop to radicalism, we need to alienate ourselves from the movement, and align ourselves independently with the philosophy behind it.

I guess the whole point though is that feminism is a movement that we can trace the founding of, and it abides by no philosophies that were not pre-existent at the time of its founding.

You're a pussy if you don't dare to support equality, or you're not supporting equal rights for everyone. Either way, from your position you're wrong.

feminism isn't about equality anymore though, its about matriarchal supremacy.

I believe in ignoring traits such as race and sex, not performing affirmative actions that feminists espouse.

Ultimately the only way to get prejudice to go away is to get everybody to ignore race and sex, not demand statistical equality.

The civil war was fought primarily over political and economic reasons, it's just that these reasons happened to revolve around slaves because that's what the southern economy was reliant on

Thus why the reconstruction period sucked so much dicks for everyone in the south
It also revolved around cotton which the North taxed to get money. The cotton tax was the main reason for the North to invade and the slavery thing was a side thing.
Thank you.

I'd like to remind everybody that there was no Civil War.
Just another American Revolution.
who do you think picked all that fucking cotton? robots? dinosaurs?

no. slaves.
Well that might have some bearing if the taxes were only on slave picked cotton.

In fact, post slavery, share cropping kept the plantations in good shape for over 50 years, so it was even more of a non issue.

Because in reconstruction a lot of their taxes got rekt because they didn't want to start another revolution.
