I can't keep a straight face and say this is not the end.
Not if you want it. It's upon us, and I wanna say it's sinking in.

If I was hasty, maybe I was rushed along.
I won't move into little boxes and then not get the itch to move on.

So I'll think real slow.
Just remember, yes is yes, and no is no.

Melting prints of grass and snow means I may forget the way to get back home.

You're not the first thing in my life I've loved and lost.
Yeah, I've thought worse things that I might be less inclined to merely just shrug off.

You'll take me home.
Like my family did; my father did. I know.
You'll think real slow.

But don't forget the speed that I can go.

I've been convincing myself that I'm worthwhile.
Because I'm worth what I'll convince myself to be.

I met the devil and I stared her in the eyes.

Her hair had scales like silver serpents.
I, a statue, stood there mesmerized.

I took the fire escape and made it out alive.
Yeah, I still burn from time to time, but I've a healing hand against my side.

Blisters on my feet I walked back home.
Frozen by the sleet; burnt sand and stone.

Nourished back to life by life alone.

With one shake of the mane, regain the throne.

The lasers fired by snoke's flagship arcing through SPACE like artillery triggered me

Spoiler
gravity was fucked up all throughout the movie. The hell was with those bombers?
Spoiler
The bombs were propelled along a magnetic rail thing or something, they weren't just dropped.
Spoiler
they were dropped using the artificial gravity in the ship, I believe

they keep moving because of inertia

Spoiler
there's already some buzz that JJ is going to be doing a lot to undo the damage that Rian has done with this film, most of all unkilkibg Luke

what if Rey couldn't see Luke, not because he was cut off from the force, but because he wasn't there at all?

So does this actually change the established lore on how hypersapce works in Star Wars? I always thought they travelled to another dimension or something, but now it's just moving REALLY fast?

Hyperspace has always been effectively moving really fast through real space, just hand-waved with "mass shadows" and other bullshit.

Just saw TLJ,  thought it was pretty good.

Spoiler
I got really excited when Finn was about to die, because his character blows.
I think most of the problems come from the director just trashing JJ's stories; every revelation felt jarring and contrived. The fact the Resistance is literally a handful of ships with nothing else is stupid. I don't really have anything unique to say at this point...though it's good to see that the dark side ending of Jedi Academy is now canon.

Also, ships can just track other ships through hyperspace, which is all sorts of dumb

And "battering ram cannon", "miniature death star tech"... come on.
Spoiler
FUCKING RIGHT

IN WHAT SITUATION WOULD THEY EVER NEED THAT WEAPON EXCEPT THIS VERY SPECIFIC ONE

... Sieges?

I feel like having something with that capability on hand would be fairly useful.
it's impossibly specific

'they're in a bunker immune to artillery and the only way in or out is a big door and we need a lot of space to set this up so it has to be near a huge field that the door faces'

can you imagine, admiral ackbar turns the ship around, and just as his intent becomes clear and the confusion on board the bridge of the Supremacy breaks,  you hear hux whisper 'it's a trap'

Would be legitimately great
this does bid the question though
Spoiler
If this was always an option, why have we never seen hyperspace kamikaze droids?

Would it just be too cost prohibitive?

I feel like a fighter sized unmanned craft could've easily taken down the Malevolence during the Clone Wars.

I cant believe everyone forgot about the best Star Wars movie by far.
this thread is for ranking the films, and therefore pure art, infinite and incorporeal in nature, does not require ranking

it is beyond human understanding and it is beyond our scalar examination

to even attempt to rank Backstroke of the West is a fool's errand, this goes without saying

Having had a couple days to process it all I really dislike is the frequency of jokes and the Canto Bight stuff, as well as Rose in general.

Aside form that it was a good character driven Star Wars film. Kylo Ren continues to be one of my favorite characters.

Rey wasn't as irritating either.
I actually didn't find rose to be as annoying as I was expecting her to be. But Canto Bight just felt like the obligatory Mos Eisley Cantina scene to show off how cool the SW universe was, and that whole sub-plot with the kids was just bad.

Like, isn't that what droids are for? That whole angle just felt really out of place for Star Wars.
Canto Bight was actually the Cloud City portion if the film.

Spoiler
I haven't been this conflicted on a movie since Evangelion 3.0, that's really saying something.

There were parts in the movie that were absolutely good and made for a great story, but there were other parts that were the shittiest thing Disney could possibly throw out and really bogs it down. I don't really know where to start. The interaction between Kylo and Rey was flawless, really well executed, I feel Kylo's character has been mostly redeemed from his shitty whiny brat version in TFA. And their scenes were plenty to keep the movie going.

But then there's shit like Snoke dying like a fucking nobody, Space Casino monster chase, Captain three minutes of screen time getting even LESS screen time and still treated like she's somehow fucking important. It's really fucking noticeable when half the movie's run time is devoted to one situation the rebels are in. Every Star Wars movie has been a series of smaller adventures that encompass the bigger picture, but instead we get this bland huge problem in which most of the cast revolves around; I started to groan every time it cut away from Rey/Luke/Kylo because I legitimately have zero fucking interest in Fin and that literal who that joined the main cast of the film.

TFA even got that right. We go from escaping Jakku, to running into Han and Chewie, to trying to find the Resistance, to infiltrating Starkiller Base, to finding Luke. All situation they need to resolve but none of them overstayed their welcome like the cruiser chase plot did in this movie.

The movie is just so jarring, and I think the worst thing is that I can tell they were trying to do something different and unexpected (probably because TFA got a lot of shit for being too much like ANH) but they didn't want to fully commit so they half-assed it and it came out noticeably impacted by it. All of the different moments where they could have committed to something that pulls the rug out from under you but didn't are very obvious and I would've applauded them had they fully gone through with each and everyone but they don't, they copped out every time. Rey venturing to the dark side, KILLING fucking Leia, Rey going with Kylo's plan, killing Finn (that would've made the movie an instant 10/10), Kylo turning back to Ben, they could've done any of these things but chose not too. I hope they're lack of action on these was more caused by spending too much fucking time with the damn cruiser chase.

It's not as bad as Rogue One

Rogue One's only flaws were the overdone fan service and the disgustingly horrible casting choices. It still felt like a Star Wars movie whereas this only felt like Star Wars half the time.
Spoiler
this film did so many 180°s that by the end I was just imagining what a conventional storyteller wouldn't do and then it happened

just because it isn't mainstream doesn't mean it isn't predictable, Disney

also you're fired for criticizing Disney

I liked Rouge One. I think the prequels are pretty trash. CGI was laughable, acting was bad. Especially Annakin. IMO, TFA was the best Star Wars behind Empire Strikes Back. Now a lot of critics are saying TLJ is the best, even better than Empire. Something has people salty with this movie. Really divisive so far.
It pushes the sequel era more into being its own thing than being held down by the OT, with a lot of new, weird things. I love the direction they took with this film but for others I can see the change being quite jarring, or not what they wanted.
Spoiler
dude tlj was just empire backwards with a little roj sprinkled in the middle
