Serious / Re: Why do people fetishize democracy?
« on: February 23, 2015, 07:23:21 AM »
That's what a federation is.

Technically, the USA is a Republican Federation, and the individual states send representatives democratically, according to guidelines on how those representatives should be selected.

In fact, the USA is nothing more than a meeting room in a tiny territory sliced out of Maryland.
People too often treat the states as though they were provinces.

Even the executive isn't really elected by popular demand, he's elected by representatives, who take suggestions from their constituency.

There's actually no law saying that these electors have to vote for who the people vote on.

There's nothing democratic about it.
Yes, but the point was that the US was not a democracy.

ni- WHAT?

What kind of characters do you like? I'm genuinely curious.
Well, in all honesty there was one likeable character.

Watari.

That's it, really.

fucking horseshit

Boyhood should have won
At least it wasn't the Budapest Hotel.
that's true
It wasn't that bad a film.
I mean, the ending was awful and there was no reason for it, but that wasn't so bad.

The anime was brilliant for the first 12 episodes.
It tanked immediately after that and I dropped it at episode 14.
It was psychologically thrilling for a while, but the writers exhausted themselves, because they're not as bright as the characters they created.

This is the reason that most Sherlock Holmes adaptations tank.
Only Arthur Conan Doyle, was truly able to bring the character to life, because he was a genius himself.
I think Moffat comes close.

But in the case of Death Note, they simply could not keep up with the intellectual evolutions of their characters, and it went from shocking, to predictable.

And it doesn't help that they set up every character as an antagonist.

The whole anime is now worth it.

There are no likeable characters, and it really drags on, but this one pun has saved the anime.
Fucking Gooks
If it was unclear to anyone who hasn't seen the anime, Light is the name of the Main Character.

She's everything you could have ever hoped for. She's beautiful, smart, funny, kind, loving, and loyal. She's a beast in bed and she's into everything you are. She loves you fiercely.
This part already happened to me.

It got annoying quickly.
You don't want a copy of yourself, a spouse should complete someone, representing everything they aren't.

OT: Sure, I love kids,

It's not really.

Only dipshits abuse the length, dipshits that need a warning for abusing a site function.
The fact Cheat changed it is laughable and incredibly ridiculous.
It's not about the assholes like Slash and Sol who abused it, it's about people like Noelle and I. Who have perfectly fine sized avatars that now look squished.
Then resize them yourselves.

Cheat has done this before, changing a feature based on the input of only a couple of users who could easily be dealt with quickly by themselves.
It's idiocy.
Right, like when he removed images from spoilers.

Friendly reminder that there's only one right option!
I take it to be "I am" considering the fact that all votes went to that, including yours, therefore being only one right answer as you say, you have chosen it accordingly.

So I agree with you, I am better than you.

Septagon / Re: Avatar size
« on: February 23, 2015, 03:16:22 AM »
I actually created that in response to the fact that some people's avatars were too long and creating a lot of negative space on the forum.

One line responses were getting extremely annoying.
I could have asked for this change, and been subjected to the process, but I figured that the most apt demonstration of what a nuisance it really is was to apply it in hyperbole.

The expected response was that Cheat would place restrictions on avatar size, after all, that avatar was in every thread that Slash and I had posted in.
