Like...it makes sense in a way, it sounds like Buck and Romeo will make an appearance in Halo 5, but it'd be hard to carry on a secondary character and give him story, when he's a silent protagonist. Youd have to give him a voice and a face that would suit him, but he's meant to be us in a way, and thats hard.

Buck being in Halo 5 is a pretty high chance, since Nathan Fillion's voice was in the H5 Beta trailer, and I believe in the actual Beta too.
Buck is trying to replace Cortana as the character to appear in the most Halo games.
If Buck is actually in Halo 5, it'll be the third game he's in.
Cortana has been in five so far.
Yeah, he's gotta catch up first.

There's plenty of tragic death in Halo.
In terms of likability/popularity,
Keyes=/=Rookie
Other Keyes isn't even close to the Rookie.
We never played as Johnson, but I'll give you that one. His death was handled pretty well considering the rest of the game.
If you didn't think J. Keyes' death wasn't that bad, you clearly never read Fall of Reach. I didn't really care on my first playthough, but coming back after reading that book, the loss of the Captain was devestating.
