The Flood / Beer Reviews
« on: December 11, 2016, 08:07:45 PM »
Tonight I'm having some nitrogenated beers, starting with Guinness' latest nitrogen beer, Nitro IPA.

Guinness delivers exceptional smoothness, and a thick bitter at the back of the pallette.
Nitro IPA delivers everything it promises, and the head blends exceptionally as a result of nitrogenation, creating a thick creamy pour.

However, the forward flavor, ie; the first thing to hit your tongue, is almost non-existent, and results in the possibility of being overwhelmed by the much stronger bitter at the back of the pallette if you're not expecting it. This is a major flaw in my opinion, and drops the brew down to 3/5.

Later I'll review an old favorite, Boddington's.

Let us know about what you're drinking!

And become party leader while he's at it.

Quote
Millions of Americans registered a protest vote on Tuesday, expressing their fierce opposition to an economic and political system that puts wealthy and corporate interests over their own. I strongly supported Hillary Clinton, campaigned hard on her behalf, and believed she was the right choice on Election Day. But Donald J. Trump won the White House because his campaign rhetoric successfully tapped into a very real and justified anger, an anger that many traditional Democrats feel.

I am saddened, but not surprised, by the outcome. It is no shock to me that millions of people who voted for Mr. Trump did so because they are sick and tired of the economic, political and media status quo.

Working families watch as politicians get campaign financial support from billionaires and corporate interests — and then ignore the needs of ordinary Americans. Over the last 30 years, too many Americans were sold out by their corporate bosses. They work longer hours for lower wages as they see decent paying jobs go to China, Mexico or some other low-wage country. They are tired of having chief executives make 300 times what they do, while 52 percent of all new income goes to the top 1 percent. Many of their once beautiful rural towns have depopulated, their downtown stores are shuttered, and their kids are leaving home because there are no jobs — all while corporations suck the wealth out of their communities and stuff them into offshore accounts.

Working Americans can’t afford decent, quality child care for their children. They can’t send their kids to college, and they have nothing in the bank as they head into retirement. In many parts of the country they can’t find affordable housing, and they find the cost of health insurance much too high. Too many families exist in despair as drugs, alcohol and suicide cut life short for a growing number of people.

President-elect Trump is right: The American people want change. But what kind of change will he be offering them? Will he have the courage to stand up to the most powerful people in this country who are responsible for the economic pain that so many working families feel, or will he turn the anger of the majority against minorities, immigrants, the poor and the helpless?

Will he have the courage to stand up to Wall Street, work to break up the “too big to fail” financial institutions and demand that big banks invest in small businesses and create jobs in rural America and inner cities? Or, will he appoint another Wall Street banker to run the Treasury Department and continue business as usual? Will he, as he promised during the campaign, really take on the pharmaceutical industry and lower the price of prescription drugs?

I am deeply distressed to hear stories of Americans being intimidated and harassed in the wake of Mr. Trump’s victory, and I hear the cries of families who are living in fear of being torn apart. We have come too far as a country in combating discrimination. We are not going back. Rest assured, there is no compromise on racism, bigotry, xenophobia and sexism. We will fight it in all its forms, whenever and wherever it re-emerges.

I will keep an open mind to see what ideas Mr. Trump offers and when and how we can work together. Having lost the nationwide popular vote, however, he would do well to heed the views of progressives. If the president-elect is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families, I’m going to present some very real opportunities for him to earn my support.

Let’s rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and create millions of well-paying jobs. Let’s raise the minimum wage to a living wage, help students afford to go to college, provide paid family and medical leave and expand Social Security. Let’s reform an economic system that enables billionaires like Mr. Trump not to pay a nickel in federal income taxes. And most important, let’s end the ability of wealthy campaign contributors to buy elections.

In the coming days, I will also provide a series of reforms to reinvigorate the Democratic Party. I believe strongly that the party must break loose from its corporate establishment ties and, once again, become a grass-roots party of working people, the elderly and the poor. We must open the doors of the party to welcome in the idealism and energy of young people and all Americans who are fighting for economic, social, racial and environmental justice. We must have the courage to take on the greed and power of Wall Street, the drug companies, the insurance companies and the fossil fuel industry.

When my presidential campaign came to an end, I pledged to my supporters that the political revolution would continue. And now, more than ever, that must happen. We are the wealthiest nation in the history of the world. When we stand together and don’t let demagogues divide us up by race, gender or national origin, there is nothing we cannot accomplish. We must go forward, not backward.

It looks like building a better Democratic party is Bernie's biggest goal going forward.
Indeed, this has been tumultuous election process, and it has broken both parties.

The Republicans seemingly have control, but there is bound to be infighting on the road ahead, and a lot of party reform that needs to happen.

Thoughts?

Serious / I'm not saying this is 100% because of what happened at the DNC
« on: November 09, 2016, 09:10:21 AM »
But if the Dems had placed faith in democracy instead of forcing Hillary down our throats, we might not be in this situation.

The Republicans tried to do the same thing, if you recall, but voters stood up for themselves instead of letting the RNC push them around, and as a result Donald Trump will be the 45th president of the United States.

It's incredible to me that we were in a situation where both parties were blatantly trying to install a nominee against the will of their constituents, and it was where democracy and the voice of the people rang true in the primary that success in the general election was found, not where party support was fabricated and altogether built on pillars of sand.

Gaming / Things we want to see in the next Destiny
« on: October 27, 2016, 10:21:17 PM »
So Destiny tanked fucking hard, assuming the next title is salvageable at all, what things do we wanna see?

My Wishlist
•Dialogue with NPCs
•Player Homes
•Explore the City and other human settlements on every planet
•Better story that results in things actually changing
•Forge
•More explorable areas with more detail
•Bigger focus on factions, and their political intentions
•More factions
•Build you own gun
--I feel like this one needs fleshing out
--We've been introduced to weapon cores through a few quests already, so you start with that as a base,
--and it determines the type of gun you're building, and it's rarity.
--Then you add parts, which vary in effect: stock, scope, clip, barrel, and if it's exotic, an exotic perk core.
•Space combat
•Faction wars: massive multiplayer games where your faction determines what team you're on (64 player)
--Match never actually ends, it works a lot like patrol.
•In addition, FFA PvP in patrol
•If you're staying on planet, go to other areas on the same planet by vehicle or on foot.
•Patrol the Reef and go from asteroid to asteroid, with gravity toward the center of each allowing
••you to go around every side

I hope I can get some legit suggestions

The 2020 candidates are Vince McMahon (R) and Larry Hryb (M)

Hillary is going to win the election and die of terminal whatever the fuck is wrong with her three days in.
Mike Pence is going to run the country (and the Democratic party) into the ground to the point where by 2020 they're not even culturally relevant.

Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer are going to found the Microgov Party, an AnCap party dedicated to created a nation in which the most powerful corporations and wealthiest individuals have the most success. They run it with an iron fist reminiscent of Boss Tweed's Tammany Hall.

By this time Trump has switched parties an additional three times, eventually landing with the Microgovs who elevated becoming the first Representative from Atlantis, the 51st state built by Microsoft on an artificial island which is for some reason in the Pacific.

In 2018 he becomes Speaker of the House.

The 2020 debates take place in this format:

Debate I: Wrestling Match
They never make physical contact, but it becomes clear that McMahon is the victor.
Debate II: Halo Tournament (entire cabinet participates)
McMahon's team proves worthy, but Dunkey (M) (Candidate for Sec. of State) displays unmatchable skills.
Debate III: Whoever gets the most retweets wins.
Everybody has both candidates blocked at this point, nobody wins.

VP Debate: John Cena (R) and Steve Downes (M) have a rap battle.
It seems as though Cena has won when he issues a sick burn, and his theme begins playing, but then Downes reminds the audience of Cena's decision to play Fred's father in that Nickelodeon original movie, John Cena becomes overwhelmed with his foolishness and falls to his knees in dramatic agony, then Steve Downes announces that he just gave the Republicans back their bomb.

November comes, and voters go to the polls, but the winner is unclear to me now.
What I do know is that Putin will reveal that he was the second coming in February 2021, ascend to heaven, and the US will step in and take over the country, which results in world peace.

Congress is so impressed by this that they name whoever is president at that time Supreme God Emperor for life, not knowing that before leaving Putin granted whoever holds the office of POTUS eternal youth.

In 2030, at the age of 84, Donald Trump has become Senate Majority leader, and leads a military coup, successfully overthrowing the current president and driving them into hiding. As he takes the Mantle of God-Emperor, his youth is restored and he becomes the turgid, powerful, immortal being to lead our race into a new age, and the next phase of our evolution.

Ten thousand years later, we have spread across the cosmos as a race of multi-galactic godlike beings, and Trump bows his head to the master he has served all along, who has been the engineer of all political agendas since the assassination of Lincoln. Finally ready to emerge from the shadows and claim the throne he has created from what mankind will certainly see in this distant future as the dawn of time, Cheat becomes Lord and Master of all the universe.
