The Nightfall in this game is pretty stressful with the timer shit. Frustrating at first, but once you get the hang of it and start coordinating it's a lot of fun.
The nightfall timer was actually introduced back in the Age of Triumph event. I don't know if they changed it but there it wasn't so bad once you were close to or at the highest level.
The current nightfall in d2 starts you with 13 minutes and returns you to orbit if it hits zero, and you gain time by killing enemies. Not sure if I can solo this
Definitely not. The burns pretty much make it essential to have one person with each type of element. It was enough of a struggle as a 271.

that's not something i noticed until several years after i beat the game for the first time, and the fact that they added that little touch that no one ever notices still makes me smile

Did they change how burns work in this one. In D1 all you needed was the one element of whatever the weekly burn was and it would get through pretty much anything.
At least in the current nightfall, it rotates between the three elements

On the ending...
Spoiler I didn't watch it, but saw someone post it. I would've liked to of been surprised by that, but oh well. I'm assuming that they are "The Darkness" From reading The Books of Sorrow we know The Traveler and The Darkness are billions of years old. Oryx has been wiping countless civilizations out for billions of years. No telling how much longer The Darkness has been around before him. I think it's safe to assume The Darkness is just an evil, very old, very advanced alien race. And another advanced race may have built The Traveler just to gift other civilizations power in the hopes of defeating them.  
Spoiler I wish a mission had us help the leviathan eat Oryx's corpse so that BUNGiE couldn't ever recycle him again.
I swear if the story involves hive getting my Touch of Malice and using it to necro Oryx, I'm going to go to BUNGiE HQ in person and take a sledgehammer to Luke Smith's kneecaps
Spoiler I've heard Oryx's sister mentioned a lot. There's even a strike with her name in it. IIRC they went their separate ways. She could be nearly as powerful as Oryx, or more now. There was also a statue in the dreadnaught naming someone called Noxris. There's definitely more to come with the Hive. Though not in the first two expansions at least. Considering they're the only enemies who actually serve the darkness we may have to wait till D3.
Spoiler Yeah, they're totally setting up Savathun. Feels like they have ever since they introduced Malok, since he was thrall or something spawned from her that was taken by Oryx
