At some point in Xenoblade Chronicles you're attacked by these people  Now, these are pretty standard enemies and don't really pose much of a threat. But, one your first playthrough you're likely to be playing as the main character when this happens, and his weapon is unable to hurt other Humanoids, so you're stuck waiting for the AI to kill them. Also there's a boss fight later against a monster, where it's beneficial to play as him, but the monster is aided by a person, so you kinda have to choose.
