Paintball isn't really "hardcore", sure the balls hurt a bit more, but airsoft feels more realistic and is cheaper.
paintball IS fun however, I think airsoft is ultimately superior.
plus you can get by with a pair of safety glasses in airsoft, paintball you basically have to use a mask.

I don't think paintball and Airsoft is meant for playing soldier. I find objective based games to be more fun.

I agree that objective is very fun, I was just posting the basics. They both rely on the same basis for fun, painball is just needlessly expensive. I started with paintball and moved to airsoft.
