How does it feel to have no useful skills for society and to chase after hopeless dreams?
Pretty depressing huh? Your lives must be awfully miserable. 94
Serious / Allowing transexuals to use the other bathroom (in school)« on: January 29, 2015, 10:00:10 PM »
I can't actually share my opinion here because the mods wouldn't allow it (anti-freedom of opinion and all), but what are your thoughts on whether or not public schools should allow transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice?
Do you think it would be easily abuse-able? Do you think it would freak out the other kids? 95
The Flood / What are your experiences as a homeless man/woman?« on: January 29, 2015, 08:46:52 PM »
I'm asking because I never ran away from home because my mom was making me do chores. I'm also not a college drop out, lol. So what's it like to fall asleep on the anti-homeless spikes?

"BUT WE'RE NOT BIASED I SWEAR"
"WE EVEN MADE THE MOD-BIAS MEME TO GET PEOPLE TO STOP CALLING US OUT ON OUR ABUSE OF POWER" You have no legit reason to ban the discussion of transexuals just because we don't have the same opinion as you. "OH NO HE HAS A DIFFERENT OPINION, HE MUST BE BAITING" "MY FEELINGS ARE SO HURT ALL I CAN DO IS CRY WHINE AND DO ALL I CAN TO GET YOU TO STOP SHARING OPINIONS I DON'T AGREE WITH" 99
The Flood / Is there any reason to keep the 'T' in LGBT?« on: January 29, 2015, 07:33:24 PM »
I'm just curious, is there even one law or legal matter in which transexuals are treated unfairly?
I'm genuinely asking, because apparently there are trans-experts on the forum who know all about this. 100

Serious / Ultimate idealism« on: January 27, 2015, 07:07:46 PM »
You see Meta, while I agree that there are objective truths that some things contribute to human flourishing more so than others, you're still not going to get everyone to agree that human flourishing is the ultimate ideal our species ought to achieve. Anti-natalism, for example, seeks to achieve as little suffering as possible for all species. Another view point might pay more attention to individualism and say that one's own collection of power is the ultimate ideal.
So in case I'm not on the same page as you and you understand morality in a completely different fashion you can disregard the rest of this post and help explain it (for the 50th time), but I'm 40% positive that you understand what I'm talking about. So how exactly do you decide the ultimate ideal? Is it whatever is most prominent in society or did we just pick it out of a hat? 108

The Flood / Is squatting a girl exercise?« on: January 27, 2015, 04:14:22 PM »

Am I wrong here? 110
Septagon / Shitpost indicator idea« on: January 27, 2015, 12:10:13 PM »
There are people willing to shitpost more than others, and some people really don't care about it while others do. I'm just thinking that maybe there could be an option while posting a thread to label your thread as a shitpost (similar to posting it as anonymous). The shitpost would be properly labelled, and users can have the ability to turn off shitposts in their settings. The monitors can be barred from being able to hide shitposts and can delete shitposts if they break the rules or become too spammy. Shitposts should also not affect post count and thread count.
Some shitposts do get replies and people would really be annoyed if the mods cracked down too hard on fun. But if there was a filtered way to make shitposts then it would ease the tension going on in the Flood about shitposting and spam. I really would have liked to see some of the popular shitposter members get bans and warnings, but this solution I think works better for the forum. 111
The Flood / Ryle has made that same transgender joke like ten times in the past« on: January 27, 2015, 12:43:50 AM »
I can only figure this out through experimentation, but I'm guessing that you guys aren't actually offended by what I say (so I was wrong to call you out on that). If you were then you would also be giving shit to Ryle and all the other people who make transgender jokes. The only conclusion I can make is that there is something intrinsically offendable about me that triggers so many of you to get mad. I will have to look into this more, but I think I'm finally getting somewhere with you guys.
Keep me updated with your reactions to my threads, criticism is especially helpful. inb4 this is a shitpost 112
Serious / Monetary policy should be decided upon by a democratic vote« on: January 26, 2015, 10:08:58 PM »
Democracy is the only fair way to get something done. The only reason we have a representative democracy rather than a true one is because it's just not practical to vote on every decision a government makes. But my argument for this thread is that monetary policy is something that is so important that the people should have a say in it. As we all know, if a decision is made democratically, the out come is always more fair. Ultimately it comes down to the fact that if the decision isn't decided democratically, then the best interests of the people aren't at heart. That's why we need democracy, because the people know what's best for them, not anyone else.
Bullshitting aside, are there any outstanding issues you can think of that ought to be decided with a democratic vote rather than an expert, and vice versa? Maybe it'll be easier if I just make a list of decisions and you can say whether or not they should be decided democratically or not. 1. Where to set the minimum wage 2. Whether or not to invade a country (granted no urgency exists) 3. Whether or not humans should be trying to look for other intelligent life (and thus making them aware of our presence) 4. Whether or not we should be mining domestic shale 5. What the tax rates should sit at ***Because I didn't make it clear enough, that first paragraph is just bullshit. I thought I made it clear that I'm not an advocate of democracy and I do not believe that people know what's best for them. 113

The Flood / The truth is that I'm transgender« on: January 26, 2015, 08:19:38 PM »
I don't know what it is, but I woke up earlier today realizing that I no longer felt fit in my body. *sigh* The truth is, I want to become a Western Poka-dotted Alligator Snapping Turtle. There's no real way to explain it, it's just an adrenaline that I feel running through my veins when I think about how smooth and attractive their green little bodies are. Mmmmm. I really just can't live life any longer in secret, I have to tell someone now or I'll never be able to come out about this. Please except me for who I am. Not who you knew me as but for who I truly I am on the inside. Thank you for listening and for supporting me through this difficult time.

The Flood / Gay sports players put teams at risk in the locker room« on: January 26, 2015, 05:22:45 PM »
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02gdbr6
Should gay people be allowed to terrorize their team mates in the locker room? Wouldn't it make more sense to have a 'don't ask; don't tell' policy for sports? People have a right to privacy and shouldn't be sexually harassed in places like that. It's a serious issue, do not belittle it. 116

Serious / Should corporations be allowed to rely on the government for better business?« on: January 26, 2015, 10:40:35 AM »
I can't remember the year, but I was learning in my history class how Japan had an excess of steal and they were selling it in America at prices that American steal manufacturers couldn't compete with. So the American corporations got congress to enact a tariff on steal which allowed the Americans enough room to compete, in fact it was even enough that they could raise their steal prices without having to worry about the Japanese.
Is it healthy for capitalism to allow corporations to rely on the government? Where do you draw the line? 118

I don't know many details yet, just that his crippling disease finally took him. No words can really be said about this, let's just pray that he's in a better place now. He was truly an inspiring individual.
Please, I'd rather not turn this thread into an argument about false accusations and such, let's just mourn our lost friend. |
