The Flood / Palestine needs a quick and speedy end« on: October 29, 2014, 12:41:21 PM »
Israel is the only Jewish country and let's not forget they faced a holocaust. There's no reason we need to defend the terrorists instead of the victims, that's beyond outrageous. Palestinians are hard asses anyway, Israelis are much nicer people.

Serious / Mandatory abortions for minors« on: October 29, 2014, 11:56:24 AM »
I was talking to my friend the other day and she started ranting about childhood pregnancy. Essentially she wanted mandatory abortions for anyone under 18 because she was disgusted with all the teen pregnancies happening today and how it was destroying their lives and future.
Do you agree with her or is that too radical? We already mandate education for minors (and we probably should mandate vaccines too), so is it really that far of a step to take to require abortions considering how child pregnancy can mess up your entire life? 487
Septagon / We need a change of rules/culture in Serious« on: October 29, 2014, 09:33:36 AM »
A little bit of fun is fine, but it's slowly gotten worse and worse over time and at this point it's just awful. No one should pretend that we've all perfectly behaved in a logical and mannerly behavior (even Meta), but certainly some users are worse than others, and that essentially means we need to update the rules. So here's a few things I thought up and you can add to them if you'd like.
Enforceable rules: >No more posting 'memes' as arguments >No more reaction images, general insults, and deconstructive replies >No more quoting a post and saying "lol" or "LOLOLOL," especially not when that's the only content in the post >No more self defense to someone else's insults; replying to someone trying to start an unlawful fight with you puts you in the wrong as well Guidelines: >Don't judge arguments based on what you think about the OP >Don't get offended over opinions you don't like >Don't assume getting the last post in a debate means you won the debate; debates are won when a compromise has been made, the argument comes down to a difference in ethics, or a final conclusion cannot be reached with available evidence >If you believe someone is being completely unreasonable, stop replying, do not continue on a string of replies that isn't getting you anywhere Mods, please edit posts that call people out and act in an immature behavior. It will not be tolerated in this thread and I'd like us to practice the kind of behavior we should all, unsubjectively, try to attain. 488
Serious / Discussion on Deism (not religion)« on: October 28, 2014, 04:33:15 PM »
This isn't a troll thread just because I'm thinking about a certain idea, though I bet the shitposters of the Serious board will inevitably shitpost here anyway with "LOLOLOLOL" and "you're such an idiot."
Moving forward, is it really such a radical idea to consider, agnostically, that it's possible that a supernatural act (specifically using the word 'act' instead of 'thing') gave rise to the Universe? Yes, we don't know what happened or even what this all really is, and most likely we'll probably never know, but there hasn't yet been much of a sound answer for why we have anything rather than nothing. In fact it's almost certainly rather illogical anyway you think about it. So do you think the possibility of some supernatural act (or supernatural thing if you really insist) could explain what gave rise to the Universe or not? 489

Serious / I'm not sure what it's called... anti-matter theory?« on: October 26, 2014, 11:03:34 PM »
Do any of you believe the theory that the reason we have any mass and energy in the universe is because there's an equal amount of positive mass and positive energy as there is negative mass and negative energy that split apart during the Big Bang? And I got this from Lawrence Krauss, so don't bitch at me for coming up with more pseudo scientific bullshit.

Serious / Mathematicians of Sep7agon...« on: October 26, 2014, 10:56:58 PM »
What's easier for you to understand? Abstract math or spatial/visual logical problems? I'd come up with examples to better explain myself, but I don't want you to answer the question based on the examples I come up with (if that makes any sense). I used to be much more mathematical, but as I've grown up I've become better with logic problems. Although recently I've been trying to get back onto the math side of things by researching some abstract math, but I don't know, how is math for you guys?

Serious / Atheist logical fallacy: assuming the default reality« on: October 26, 2014, 10:06:37 PM »
Essentially this a logical fallacy when atheists make the claim that they don't need to prove that God isn't real because the burden of proof relies on the one making the claim. But who's really making a claim here? How can you say that atheism is the default without knowing what actually created the universe? Certainly there must be some process that created the universe. To say that nothing created the universe is a quite a claim in and of itself. So please elaborate on why atheists believe it is the default that God is not real and not the other way around?

I think it's called an RTS or something, but you build fortresses and armies and stuff. It's free and no download required too. We can band together too under a treaty so we're (more) safe from attacks. I just started playing today, so I'm not much of an expert, but I think it's pretty cool so far.
