Gaming / So The Division may be Destiny 2.0...« on: January 17, 2016, 10:35:03 AM »YouTube Okay, I before said that The Division may be better than we mostly think. However seeing this now really worries me. Level 20, tiered weaponry(with purple being Legendary/Superior), no respawn zones and similar enemies to the low levels.. Now I am genuinely worried. I really liked the concept of Destiny but we all can agree the concept was made into a cash grab. If The Division goes the same way we may have a huge problem. HOWEVER, on the good side. Destiny's ideas were very good, and if The Division can bring the original ideas of Destiny into reality, with a good amount of content this may be very good. 153

The Flood / Megamind is a good movie to be honest.« on: January 16, 2016, 12:43:36 AM »
>Good story, while using a bunch of clichés yes but still does a different story than most.
>Pretty good animation, eyes still are dead, but you get that from a lotta animations. >A good cast of voice actors doing a good job with their characters. Metroman and Megamind are both very well played. Tell me how this movie is bad. 155
Gaming / The Division may not be Watch Dogs 2.0.« on: January 15, 2016, 11:04:52 AM »YouTube Just found this today and...I may consider getting it now. I wasn't ever interested in the division, but this game is really interesting now that i've seen some unscripted gameplay of it. The fluid co-op will be fun to have friends join in and out as you explore New York, and you can apply different strategies and abilities to take out the enemy. It isn't another run and gun game, you actually have to work with a team or be extremely careful on your own. The items in the game are...okay I guess. We don't get a good look at them in this video. I kinda wish it pointed out the items a little better but that's fine. One thing I REALLY like is the HUD/Menu. It reminds me of the HUD in the game Remember Me, which I loved the style in Remember Me. So this is a plus. So now that you've seen some gameplay, what do you think? 156
The Flood / Coolest Lightsaber?« on: January 12, 2016, 06:38:30 PM »
Which lightsaber(s) would you want in your hands when fighting the Jed-I meant sith!
Since there are a lot of different types of Lightsabers I thought it's be interesting to see which people like best. Mine would be a normal lightsaber in my right hand. But a Violet color. Fun fact: Samuel L Jackson, the actor of Mace Windu, actually had the words "Bad Motherfucker" engraved in his purple lightsaber, but covered in his hands while filming. Then in my off hand (left) I would have a gaurd shoto lightsaber. As defense. This would be a hard combat style to master, but I love the idea of it. So now, gimme your ideas! 158

I'm just curious since I have been doing quite a few now. I'm no AngryBrute but I do believe i'm up there with the reviews.
So I was just curious if anyone takes the time to read em, I don't put that much effort into them but I do try to make them good enough to work with. If you do could you please review my reviews and tell me what I could improve on? As I plan to do more in the future. The next one i'll probably do is KOTOR 2 or Baldur's Gate when I get around to beating them. 164
Gaming / KOTOR 2 won't let me fuel my addiction.« on: January 05, 2016, 12:18:21 AM »
Got it on steam while it was on sale, if anyone read my KOTOR review they know i've been a little addicted to KOTOR. However...
Even with the restored content mod, the game randomly crashes, making me save waaaay too often and restart every 20 min or so. Does anyone know a fix for this? I want to finish the game and end the addiction. 165
Gaming / Pip Reviews: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic« on: January 04, 2016, 10:28:57 AM »
Eeeeh i'm back! Haven't really posted here as often, and for one reason...
I've been addicted to KOTOR. Yes, the game that everyone praises I bought and played. At first I was really unsure about it but when I played for a little while I fell right into the dark side and didn't see the sunlight until I finished the game....bad joke, bad joke. Anyways, here is a warning right away. I PLAYED KOTOR ON MY IPAD. Yeah, that's wierd I know. I had some extra cash and went "why not?". From what I see the Ipad version is the same as the PC but with controls for touch screen. The controls were usually pretty reasonable to work with so I didn't have too much trouble. Now let's get to it. STORY(spoilers: Spoiler At first I was very unsure of the story being told, you created a character and then BAM! You're thrusted into the world with this generic soldier guy teaching you the basics. Neither you or your character has a clue what's going on as your starship, The Endar Spire, is attacked by the Sith. You quickly learn how to play and head out, trying to search for the Jedi Bastila and escape the Endar Spire. Anyways this is a tutorial area so we'll skip it. So after escaping The Endar Spire you crash land on the planet of Taris, a Sith controlled city where you have to get out. Again this area kind of teaches you the basics of quests, Pazaak(a card game) and the overall story...speaking of quests. No matter where I am with the game, there always seems to be 4+ quests waiting to be completed. Anything from small sidequests to simple conversations get noted as a quest. At one point I was overwhelmed with 12 quests I had to do. Making me take a step back. I think Bioware could've done a better job at this part of the game, as it's easy to get overwhelmed with 4-12 quests. Anyways, you try and save Bastila, nearly escape the planet before the Sith destroy the planet. Get trained to be a Jedi, yada yada yada...oh and you are Darth Revan. I don't want to dwell too much on story, never been good at reviewing them. Anyways, with all the plot twists and the overall story I give it a 7.5/10. Gameplay: Gameplay in this game is probably my favorite out of all the Bioware games, as melee combat is one of the best ways to play in this game, and as a Jedi I loooooved using my two purple lightsabers. My team usually was Me, Bastila and T3-M8...except for later when it was Me, Jolee and T3-M8. Having two Jedi was always the way to go, as the two sets of Force Points mean more healing in tough situations. Ranged combat was meh for me, but I kept T3-M8 for a reason. Hacking and repairing droids is SO FRIGGIN USEFUL. You can splice a computer in an area and then overload a power conduit in a room full of enemies, instantly killing them. Or you can repair a droid and send them out to fight your battles, becoming unstoppable machines mattering by how much you repaired. So yeah, I loved gameplay. Extra: -Pazaak, Dueling and Swoop Racing are all nice editions, but ultimately they can be completely ignored if you want. Nice way to keep the game going. -Dialogue in the game is usually pretty good, however it is still obvious that the Bioware "sense of choice" is here for minor choices in dialogue. However major choices tend to have more longstanding effects. Plus you can persuade and force persuade to get people to do what you want, which is pretty nice. -Darth Malak is pretty...generic as a villain, if i'm being honest. I didn't like him very much. You could make a better vill- wait I can't finish that sentence without spoiling SHIT. Anyways, I liked KOTOR a lot. Well worth the ten dollars I paid for it. It deserves another playthrough as well where I go down the Dark Side. I recommend this game to Bioware and Star Wars fans. An 8.5/10 166
Gaming / Made a fully workin Halo: Reach custom gamemode.« on: December 23, 2015, 11:09:19 PM »
I made my own mode called "Float!"
Basically, it will be a FFA King of the Hill. However instead of normal KOTH, you aren't allowed to touch the ground or roof. With a Concussion Rifle and Golf Club your goal is to float around the arena killing everyone else and be the last one standing. It's best of 3, 5 minute rounds. When you die you go into a spectator area where you wait until the next round. Sound any good to you folks? Imagine this with 12 players all going at it. 167

The Flood / Domesticated Foxes, good or bad?« on: December 22, 2015, 08:46:24 PM »YouTube What do you think of people keeping Foxes as pets? Out all all wild animal breeds, Foxes would be one of the easier ones to domesticate. However one of the issues with the video I posted was how they went and domesticated them... Locked them up in cages until they're shipped off in another cage? No, nonono. If we are going to have domesticated animals like Foxes you absolutely CANNOT raise the animals in captivity. That already promotes bad behavior. God damn it Russia. So, what are your thoughts on domesticated Foxes? Would you want one? Would you want the ways to domesticate them to change? 170

Gaming / Pip reviews: Halo 5 Guardians« on: December 19, 2015, 01:21:13 PM »
Aaay, haven't done any of these in awhile.
So hello, this is your host Pip, and I will be reviewing Halo 5 Guardians One of the most hyped games of the year, and it turned out better than Halo 4. Story: I'll put it in spoilers so anyone who doesn't want spoilers don't have to read it. Spoiler The story in Halo 5 is....eh, not as good as Halo 4 by a longshot. The game starts off with you playing as Spartan Locke, leading Fireteam Osiris which consists of Spartan Buck, Spartan Vale and Spartan Tanaka. Your first mission is to find and rescue Dr. Catherine Halsey from Jul'Mdama. The first problem here is that if you never played through Halo 4's campaign and Spartan Ops, you would not understand this at ALL. There is no summary to help explain to new players what's going on. The opening cutscene is still pretty badass though. Next up is the mission with the original Blue Team, led by Master Chief and followed by the well known Kelly, Freddie and Linda. Again there is no summary to explain the origins of Kelly, Freddie and Linda if you never heard of the books. These three just kind of appear out of nowhere... In Blue Team's mission Chief is contacted by a once thought dead companion known as Cortana. Who gives a cryptic message to come to Meridian. This makes Chief and his loyal friends go AWOL, and Fireteam Osiris is charged with hunting them. For the rest of the game, you learn about some new Forerunner stuff, Cortana ends up being evil and takes over with so many other AI's, etc. I'm not going to explain it all for now but it is pretty lackluster. The level design of the campaign was great though, Prometheans went from my least favorite enemy in 4 to one of my favorites to fight against. Soldiers are a mix of Jackal and Elite as they can be very powerful but pretty easy to take care of. Knights are now akin to Hunters now as they are more powerful and have specific points you have to shoot at, however they are slow and thanks to new abilities pretty easy to dodge. And thank GOD THE WATCHERS ARE FAR AND FEW BETWEEN. In 4 there was at least 3-6 Watchers in each level, now they are more uncommon and easier to kill. Making those fucking runts much better to fight. However, there is one problem with the Campaign. One of the main enemies in the game is Warden Eternal, a huge sword wielding defender of Cortana. Who has One mind, millions of bodies. You know what that means? It means he'll be the only boss fight you get! As you fight this guy 9 FRIGGIN TIMES throughout the campaign....WHY?! Sometimes he even comes up 2 or 3 times at once, good luck trying to play through Legendary with that motherfucker. Next up is the team mechanics, unlike previous games where you are a one man army, in Halo 5 you now lead two teams. Osiris and Blue Team. As much as I played....it was meh, nowhere near what people expected. It's basically look where you want them to do something and click up on the d-pad. The AI is okay most of the time, but every once and awhile you'll go down and the teammate RIGHT NEXT TO YOU will not pick you up.... Anyways, the story is meh but the Campaign is still worth a playthrough or two thanks to it's gameplay. Multiplayer/Extras: Now that I am not talking about story, let's get to the special stuff!. Multiplayer, in my opinion, is good. Sprint isn't OP as fuck, everyone has equal starts, the new zoom feature isn't anywhere near as bad as CoD. Halo 5 in my opinion is closer to previous Halo games than 4. Matchmaking isn't horribly slow or glitchy now, very nice, and I haven't seen horrible horrible lag so the game is very playable. The playlist is okay even without Big Team Battle or Infection but it's still fun. The new Arena gamemode Breakout is really fun as well, elimination style 4v4 capture the flag is fast paced and intense. One game I was the last guy on the team against two, I got one of them and then it was 1v1 of us carefully watching all around us...then I choked and died but it was still pretty great. I recommend grabbing a friend or two and just playing the hell out of Arena. Next up is Warzone, and my god is that a fun gamemode. Sure I wouldn't say Warzone is the most balanced gamemode out of all them, but it has a good system in place so that teams can go back and forth for the win without total domination. Everyone starts out with an Assualt Rifle and Pistol, dropped into an arena with covenant and promethean enemies all around, take them out, capture points, take down the enemy team and defeat the enemy bosses to win. There will always be something going on to fight through, and it's pretty easy for two teams to get to a choke point between capture points trying to push forward. You can also use REQ cards to spawn in weapons, abilities and vehicles to help your team get the victory. Speaking about REQ... Yes, the Requisition system. Microtransactions in Halo....yep. The most controversial part of Halo 5...could've been worse. Seriously, the REQ system isn't nearly as bad as some put it out to be. However I do hope they don't try anything else with microtransactions as this is the limit they can go without treading into Pay to win territory. Basically, you use REQ points(or real money) to buy packs of REQ cards that give you weapons and weapon skins for Warzone, armor customization pieces, emblems, animations, etc. All the weapons you get from REQ cards only go to warzone while the only stuff allowed in Arena is cosmetic. Pretty harmless. However, the amount of unlockable armor pieces is REDICULOUSLY LARGE, to the point of too many. Unless you played hundreds of hours of Warzone or payed hundreds-a thousand dollars of real money. You won't be unlocking everything...ever. I can't comment on Forge as I brought back my rented copy of Halo before it was released sadly. Overall, this isn't what we were all hoping for, however this is still a fun game to try out. I give it a 7.5/10 178

Gaming / Since Fallout 4 is released, let's talk about Elder Scrolls 6.« on: December 17, 2015, 10:53:16 AM »
If there is to be another Elder Scrolls game, what region would you like to play through?
What kind of story would you want? What changes/additions would you like in Elder Scrolls? Personally, i've always been interested in Elsweyr, land of the Khajits. We haven't had an Elder Scrolls game set in a wierd place in awhile. Since Cyrodil and Skyrim are quite generic for fantasy lands. Story wise, i'd say one that doesn't focus around the Blades or Dragons, how about one that isn't about new oblivion gates opening and instead just be about the land and it's inhabitants? Not civil war, but maybe invasion from another land, where you have to help fight back against the new threat. Changes and additions...keep the dynamic camera in conversations from Fallout 4, but do NOT keep the dialogue system! Go back to the old one! Make sure our choices do matter and let us be evil if we want to! I'll be perfectly fine with generic combat and action if I get a truly great roleplaying experience. |
