The main question I need answered right now is why you shouldn't hate sexuality. Why shouldn't you be pissed off about how women are represented in games.
I haven't received an adequate answer to these questions in my life. My second point to cover here. I explained my particular point of view about portrayals in video games. Not sexuality in general. So, here we go. Spoiler
1. Hate is absolutely trivial and irrelevant. It accomplishes absolutely nothing but harming the one who harbors it.This is off point to the subject at hand Verb, I know. But there's a bit of a point to be made here, on the sidelines with it.
I don't know about you, but I've experienced true, physical, real hate. And do you know what that was? Clouding. Your vision becomes limited to the object of your hate. To the point that it's all you focus on. You focus so much on it, you get so caught up in that game of yours, in that state, that you will do anything to justify that hate.
Essentially, what that means is, even logic means nothing to you. Everything is discarded in the wake of that hatred. Your life, your world, your views, are all discarded as you focus on that one sole point.
And it's a sickness. A tension in your gut, a tightness in your muscles that makes you feel sick thinking about it. That makes you angry thinking about it. You don't just get displeased. You actively rage at anything. And even if it's something simple and trivial. You rage, and you focus it on the object of your attention even if it had nothing to do with that incident at all.
And until you've experienced something like that Verb, you can't say that you hate something, not truly.
And, second point. Look at that viewpoint. And ask yourself. How pointless is it to harbor something like that? Something so ridiculously clouding, obscuring, and....malevolent. All it does is harm the one who has it.
2. The point at hand. Hating sexuality because it's the invisible underlying root of suffering. Well, I've a question. Are you sure about that? Because what is sexuality?
It's both a physical and mental aspect. It's a physical drive, an attraction to someone because of how they look to you. And in the mental department, it's what you appreciate. It's your preference and identity. But what is it primarily linked to? What does it cause on all accounts?
Emotion, and feeling.
The two most enjoyed things on the planet. Eating, and fucking. And why is that? Because they make us feel good. They're the two strongest emotional influences available to us. The most satisfying. You could say, that those are the evolutionary carrots on sticks to keep us alive, because, they do.
However, suffering isn't defined by existing Verb. Suffering is defined by suffering. Which, is merely just an emotional response to both a mental feeling, and a physical receptor, pain.
Do you wager that cells feel pain Verb? How about plants? Plants are debatable for the time being. But cells? I'd wager, no. They don't register physical pain and they don't register emotional trauma. And I'm pretty sure there's other life forms out there that don't either.
But, my point here. Sexuality isn't the root. It's the capacity to feel. If everybody fucked and had kids in shitty environments where the kids had a terribly short lifespan, but didn't feel any pain or emotional damage from being born with some shit tier disease or from starving, then would it matter?
Of course, you might ask, what's the point at that point? Why be born to have such a short lifespan even if you can't feel the shitty things? My answer to that is, you'd rather them not exist in the first place.
Which equates to the exact same thing. Not existing, or existing briefly but not feeling the hardship of it.
Both equate to 0.
So, there's my answer to your question. That's why I, personally don't hate sexuality. It's not the root and point of focus.

I'm just going to lob my two mangled cents in here in answer to one of Verb's questions near the end of the page train after sorting through the debris here. Spoiler For starters, Verb, you say you can't do fuck all about this issue at hand. And you're right. Rallying in the streets probably wouldn't accomplish much. Nor would you be backed by any significant number of people. Why? Because you're protesting a video game.
Now, hear me out. Video games have always walked a line between "that's acceptable", and "that's not." They have never been meant to accurately portray reality. They've always been desinged, for escapism. When you design a video game world you literally hold all the cards. You can design a world that bends to every single liking of yours.
So, if you could do that, why wouldn't you? Why wouldn't you make something that bent to your strongest likings, even if they were absolutely non-feasible in the real world? But that's the issue. Some people don't register the difference between reality and fantasy.
You hear stories of psychopathic people latching on to violent games, and they're so damaged that the game manifests itself in them and to them, that game becomes reality. The very same could be said of objectivication. Key point.
To a degree.
So long as a person grasps the difference between real and fake, then technically there's no harm is there? Tell me Verb. Did you throw the can at the metro-cop?
Because if you did, even you are subject to enjoying escapism. Even though I doubt you'd throw a can at somebody in real life.
Now, am I defending over sexualization? Not exactly. Using it as a tool to sell a game to people? No. I don't defend that because it's capitalizing on what I talked about earlier. People who don't distinguish the difference. Remember what I said earlier.
There's a line where it's acceptable, and where it's not. The line here is drawn based on the fact that the sexuality is being used to sell. That's where the actual line is drawn. The mechanic of boob physics or however shittly dressed a character is may be atrociously ridiculous. But it's just that. Ridiculous is all. It's just that when it transitions over to making a profit because of it, it's an issue.
I don't know if I covered all the points I was trying to say there. I'll leave it at that for now, on this last note.
Me, personally, I'm leniant with stuff in games because I know where to draw the line. I know of the desensitization effect, and I know the difference between reality and not. I don't buy games because of objectification. I buy them to play them because I want to. If there's some sexual aspect to them I'm not going to complain, because to me, it's a pleasing thing to see. I'm only human after all. Flesh and blood and instincts.
But I understand that it's not real.
In terms of this issue, you shouldn't be mad that there's fantasy, and fake sexuality in games. You should be angry that people use that as a tool to make a profit off of other people who are too stupid to tell the difference.

Like, we're on the same fucking side here. Stop trying to force a categorization onto everybody and torching people who don't care about the categories. Because it's not about the fucking categories. It's about the people.
Who should be left alone to just be, and do themselves without having to announce shit or pick some fucking side.
If you're gay, you're gay. You don't have to fucking announce it and separate yourself from a crowd. Straight people don't proudly proclaim, "I'm straight!" wherever they go and find reasons to be offended.
That's what I'm saying.
Those labels are abused and weaponised. And used as tools for the toxic elements in the communities to find excuses to bitch and moan over truly worthless and trivial things.
