Serious / Re: "I hate what marijuana does to my students"« on: September 23, 2015, 01:51:07 AM »But, I'm not gonna poke a stick at you here any further because I do agree on the stance. Personally, I don't see the need to ever do it. But, my perspective isn't the only one. And just because somebody goes up against my perspective doesn't mean that they have to be completely invalid automatically. That's narrow headed and open to trouble. You don't need to antagonize people so hard over mere points of perspective. Especially when 90% of the conversations held here in this site's lifetime will never amount to anything. These are just mere conversations. And of course, naturally, took me fucking long enough to get my fucking marbles in gear here. My original point to be made was this. You've got a viewpoint. The other guy has a viewpoint. No need to get harsh. Especially over text. Defending or advocating your ideals with venom is a piss poor way of making your ideals seem remotely welcoming. I apologize for the off the rails conversation here. I'll be up front and say that I have no idea what I was originally trying to communicate here before it got all.....messy and jumbled. Either way I did a piss poor job. Sorry Verb. 3993
Serious / Re: "I hate what marijuana does to my students"« on: September 23, 2015, 01:41:45 AM »But how about we discuss addiction? Because that exists in the video game world.I'm not addicted to video games, so no, I have absolutely no desire to discuss that. I can start discussing just how much the radiation exposure effects you. Because there are a major fuck ton of verified studies that show all the wonderful avenues of damage it does to people and their systems. It's not mere simple radiation poisoning. And I wouldn't drag the whole dodgy "end justifies the means" cop out of "the pros outweigh the cons." What exactly do you gain from the internet that you can't do through another means? Because everything you do get from the internet can be done through another means without using the internet. Unless, you specifically use it because it makes things simpler and easier to access which is fair. But ring that by. Using something because it's easier despite the damage done to yourself. That's almost a carbon copy of what you're arguing against. Smoking pot because it's far easier to be happy that way than doing it normally. And again, you are right, it's not quite comparable scale wise in terms of damage. Smoking versus gradual radiation damage breakdown. But if you're going to preach in absolutes here, well, don't bother because you're essentially doing the exact same thing he is, just in a slightly different context. 3994
Serious / Re: "I hate what marijuana does to my students"« on: September 23, 2015, 01:11:05 AM »Ah, now I see where your thick headedness stems from. You find that the act of altering your mind in any way is a bad thing. Did you know that physical exercise is mind-altering? Yes, in the same way that drugs are! No way!1. Explain to me why you shouldn't use it, ever. I know he's not forced to use it. And I doubt anybody is forcing him. It's a choice.Because it's a fucking retarded choice. I shouldn't have to explain why mind-altering drugs are fucking idiotic. I think he meant in the manner of artificially. Or an alteration that otherwise wouldn't occur normally outside of normal human functions. Everything we do is mind altering, obviously. But some mind alterations can only happen when exposed to things that aren't otherwise natural occurrences in our anatomy. 3995

And I doubt anybody is forcing him. It's a choice.Because it's a fucking retarded choice. I shouldn't have to explain why mind-altering drugs are fucking idiotic. You experience an emotional stimulus from video games, correct? That's an alteration to mood. Granted, you are right on that, it's not the same level as a drug. But how about we discuss addiction? Because that exists in the video game world. How about the notable addiction and draw to dating sims? Now that's a pretty damn big alteration to somebody's mind, isn't it? How about temper tantrums in kids when you try to take their games away once you've let them get too hooked? Wouldn't you say that's a pretty damn drastic alteration? And the second point. You might not need to touch a flame to know it's hot. But that's the plain paper explanation. It's not ever going to sink into your mind, exactly, why, not to touch a flame until you've been burned. Because you notice, after you've burned, you're suddenly very much more aware of fire. You're actively careful of it and you now have a complete, full understanding of why you don't touch fire. And third. Your point about being strait cut or bust up above. You're aware that you're using the internet now right? You're likely in the proximity of a router that's sending out electromagnetic waves in the gigahertz frequency, which has proven to have mild negative effects on organic functions of living things. Now multiply that. You probably have a cell phone too. That operates on a slightly lower frequency, but none the less, a frequency of radiation. So, if we're talking straight cut, then logically, at the risk of being slowly damaged by multiple points of radiation emission you'd discard all electronic wi-fi devices that you own. But you won't. Because you like using them to a degree. Logically speaking, it's pretty damn stupid to damage yourself now isn't it? And there it is. Choice. 3996

If you're not going to put effort into explaining why then I'll take the time to mention to you that moderation does not mean stopping. Moderation means easing away from extreme spectrums. Second, you never answered my question, yet again, on whether moderation would be better over total abandonment of self control to extremes. Let's assume that abstinence is off the table here, because people are incredibly stubborn to give up what makes them happy. Would you not agree that if abstinence was off the table, that the next best thing would be moderation? Third. You have to remember that your viewpoint isn't the only one in existence. His point of reference isn't meaningless because he has a point of reference that you don't. You've never gotten stoned before. You haven't lived a life that involves pot. And therefore, your point of view on the subject will forever be lacking because you don't actually have any experience with it. You just have the word of others to go off of. I could could tell you every single day what it's like to smash your hand with a hammer. And, I could get multiple people, every day, to tell you what it's like to smash your hand with a hammer. But until you've actually smashed your own hand with a hammer, you won't truly ever understand it. I'm not saying don't knock till you try it. But you have to consider that he's got more experience than you on the subject, for good, or bad. 3998

Naturally, of course. That doesn't mean that it should stick around long past its due. At the very least, if you don't believe that a system devoid of money could work, you can openly admit that the current one is barely functioning. It supports greed, self interest and selfishness, and supports excess wasteful usage of resources. I'd be the first to say that a system without currency is a very long god time off because people are too fucking stupid to manage it like they are for this one. Meta even said it himself at one point. We've engineered a system that makes psychopathy productive. We've also made a system that favors psychopaths and gives them free reign to do what they please because they have that one little imaginary batch of numbers in their bank accounts and share holdings that gives them the keys to everything. So guess what? Keeping a system like this one in place is asking for inevitable trouble and failure. At the very minimum, to say the least, it needs an extreme overhaul. 4003

No, other than the fact that people don't seem to remember that you literally don't need money to fucking accomplish anything. A system without money could still function on the fact that we do have limited resources. But that's the issue. Nobody would be intelligent or sensible about it. They're not even fucking intelligent or sensible about the current system in place. You honestly think that money has any hinderance on resource consumption? No. It's the opposite. 4004

But that's a load of tripe. There's a time and a place to tell things. If I've learned one thing from people, it's that being 100% honest for some reason makes them upset. Even if you're just being honest about yourself. I don't have any confessions to make because I do my best to stay true to myself. But I sure as fuck won't share everything with the world. Like I said. Half assed joking. I mean, if people were actually ready for a concept like that? Yeah, we could pull it off. There's no reason why it couldn't work. But the truth is, we already exist in another system. People are too attached to it. The system itself as it is now isn't made to be modified beyond what it functions as now. It's built off the more selfish aspects of human nature. The people at the top will never relinquish control over that power, and the people at the bottom won't let it crumble because of their security in monetary value. Long story short, no. It's not so simple. And it never will be. People always have to needlessly complicate shit for no reason. 4018
