Serious / Re: SQS: "It doesn't affect me, so I don't care."« on: November 15, 2015, 02:49:13 PM »I dunno about you. But that seems tirelessly pointless, and accomplishes nothing.First of all, the idea is that it gives you the motifivation to do something about it. First point is fair, I guess. If nobody did care then people who actually do get up and about and do something about things wouldn't happen. To me though, personally, care means nothing, and is ultimately pointless until you do something with it. That's what seems to make sense anyway. Otherwise it just seems like a contradiction. You care about what's happening far away out of your hands, but not enough to go and help. Real helpful and productive, that is. Honestly, that seems on par with praying next to a hospital bed for somebody to get better rather than helping them medically. Then again, this all comes down to personal views and functions. I know for me, I tend to show care more through actions rather than sentiments. 2433
Serious / Re: SQS: "It doesn't affect me, so I don't care."« on: November 15, 2015, 02:28:47 PM »
I've got a question here, since this is a discussion after all. It relates to what I said earlier, based on the distance and proximity factors of events in relation to you.
I ask, why do you think that caring about an event that's far away from you, and out of your range, has any point to it? Let's break it down here. Just an example. Big tragedy happens. It's far away. And you say you care. Soooooo, then what? That's the thing I'm not sold on. Because after that, nothing happens. You say, "Oh well jeez I sure care about what's happening over there." And then your life resumes. I dunno about you. But that seems tirelessly pointless, and accomplishes nothing. In my personal opinion, your true care, and the need to actively care about others around you, should be based on how far you can personally reach. Essentially, how much of a physical presence you can hold in any given area around yourself is where you should focus your care, because that sphere of influence, is the one that allows you to truly accomplish something when you care about something. Anything beyond your reach to physically influence in any given area, is less worth caring about. This is just an example of distance. When it comes to closer things, things inside of your active area, then you should take more notice. Which is why I say that there isn't a clear cut answer to this mindset being good or bad to hold. It all comes down to the time and the place, essentially. 2434
Serious / Re: Indonesia's Fire Crisis« on: November 15, 2015, 11:10:47 AM »Wait this is big news. Is this related to the reason why Singapore and other nearby countries are getting air contamination recently. It was controlled burning that started it. They were burning down sections of the forest to clear the way for more farmland and then they lost control, naturally. 2435
Serious / Re: SQS: "It doesn't affect me, so I don't care."« on: November 15, 2015, 11:04:33 AM »
Tough one. Can't really take a definitive answer on that one because of how variable it is.
And it depends on the situation. I guess it'd actually depend on the scale, and distance of where that statement is applied. If I told you there was a fire next door at your neighbor's house, and you casually replied that it wasn't affecting you, so you didn't really care, then it'd be a poor call. If I told you some remote province somewhere was burning up, and you said you didn't care because it didn't affect you, then that'd at least be a little more understandable. You're not in that area to truly see or feel what's going on. No emotional attachment. And then comes the issue of what if you do care? You gonna grab a plane ticket and go help fight the fires? I wouldn't say reasonable, no. But I'd say there's situations where the outlook is warranted, or at least understandable as to why the outlook is being used. 2436
The Flood / Re: Is Islam a violent religion?« on: November 14, 2015, 07:02:16 PM »
I'm not really up for talking the whole nine yards about this bullshit.
There's advocation for violence. The culture has a violent history. But then again, take an unstable man, put him in front of the most violent video game you can find all day and make him play it every day. What happens? Something violent. Does that make every video game a supporter, advocater, and active contributer to violence? All of you here will say no. We're exposed to violent things and propagoters for them every single day. And yet 90% of us remain relatively normal, sane, functioning human beings with the ability to reason. That entire area is a shithole. Tough people, tough lifestyle. Drop any other religion in there and it'd be weaponized just like the Islamic faith. The faith itself can be interpreted for good, or bad, like any other. Just like how you don't see so many christians being rowdy mother fuckers anymore. It's because the people behind the belief have changed since it's crusade haydays. Any idea can advocate for violence. Any idea can be weaponized when exposed to the wrong mind, with the wrong reasons. There's a metric shit ton of people over there with the wrong minds, and the wrong reasons. Everybody getting all riled up about Islamic folks right now, fine, go ahead. But remember there's always two sides. As a species it's not in our evolutionary traits, to see things that don't threaten us. We only see the active threat and we generalize because it saves our lives. The sad thing is, it's the otherwise innocent people on both sides who always have to pay for the mistakes and failures of others. And the really sad thing is, when you're facing a threat, you have to generalize. You can't afford not to. So, your question, then. Is it a violent religion? Yes. But then again, so was Christianity. 2437

Honestly, I don't care for any of it. It's a shithole of a situation. We're going to see shit get worse before it starts getting better any time soon.
And frankly, I'm a bit tired of seeing bullshit these days. Tired of watching or hearing about how stupidly tiresome people these days are in their insanity. The whole deal in France is terrible. I wish I could say that it's the end of it, but it's not. We're gonna see more shit like this for a long time to come. I'd say my heart goes out to France, but I'd be lying. It doesn't. Not that I blame them for anything. The dead people caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, didn't deserve it. They never do. I just don't have the heart to care much about anything at this point. People are gonna do people. And that means, they're gonna be shitty no matter what. No matter who's right, or who's wrong. And I don't care for it any longer. 2442

The Flood / Re: BREAKING NEWS: Terrorist Attack at France v Germany Friendly (Approx. 160 Dead)« on: November 14, 2015, 12:28:15 AM »
The thing that nobody really seems to see or rightfully acknowledge, is that you're not fighting people at this point. ISIS is a guerilla group, yes, but at their core, ISIS is an idea.
Ideas are notoriously difficult to fight. Especially when practitioners of said faith aren't afraid to die for it. If I watch all the government policies and actions being taken place on ISIS, they're all just countermeasures based on warfare. Bombers. Troops. Checkpoints. Security. But you can't screen a person for ideas. A soldier can't spot somebody who harbours an idea in silence, out of view. And a bomber sure as fuck won't ever scour and scorch all the earth to remove people who hold an ideal. That seems to be where everybody goes wrong at this point. You can't fight the people. You have to fight the idea. And the best way to fight an idea, is to prevent its spread. Like I said to Batch. Close borders. Cut off flights. Cut out internet and communication. Hell, start deporting people if you have to. But bunch Islamic faith up, back where it came from, box it in, and starve it of the resources it can use to grow and spread. 2447

Honestly, a better way to do things would be to box them in. Shut down all flights. Cut off internet. Seal the borders of countries. You let nobody in or out. Even you commented. ISIS accounts claiming it was their show on twitter. How long do you put up with that shit? Cut them off, box them in, and let them sort their own shit out in their shithole of a country. Of course that'll never happen. Oil in the East and neighboring countries and "unstable" politics. At this point, nobody's going to make the right move and there's no nice, clean, or simple way outta this mess. This shit's going to go for decades. 2448

You know, the shitty thing about all this, is the people on both sides who didn't do anything wrong. Sure as shit, there is a percentage of the Islamic community that minds its own business and doesn't cause trouble. There's always parts to groups like that.
And it's going to be them that suffers the most when things get ugly. Because naturally, everybody's attention is on the bad guy, who you can't take any chances on. Those refugees coming into places are going to get turned on because sure as fuck some extrimist asshat is going to abuse that oppurtunity. Hell, the same thing happened in Canada during the second World War. When Japan struck out, Japanese concentration camps formed around Canada in response, because it was a time of war. Take no chances. And naturally, the people the least deserving of it, got stepped on. Always. And the cycle continues from that. I wager the same is going to happen in france now. I doubt they're going to walk away from this one without making a big damn fuss. France, when they're riled, go hard. It's a big damn mess with no easy or clean way out at this point. A shame. 2454

http://www.monbiot.com/2015/10/30/nothing-to-see-here/
Quote The air has turned ochre: visibility in some cities has been reduced to 30 metres. Children are being prepared for evacuation in warships; already some have choked to death. Species are going up in smoke at an untold rate. Quote The fires are destroying treasures as precious and irreplaceable as the archaeological remains being levelled by Isis. Orang utans, clouded leopards, sun bears, gibbons, the Sumatran rhinoceros and Sumatran tiger, these are among the threatened species being driven from much of their range by the flames. But there are thousands, perhaps millions, more. So apparently Indonesia's been on fire for a while now. To such an extent that they're supposedly producing more C02 emmissions right now than the annual yearly sum of Germany in just three weeks. Links to other articles down below. Evacuations on warships Smoke inhalement deaths rising in kids And apparently the fires have been going on for months, partially unable to be stopped due to the soil conditions in the area, and the political minefield of neighboring countries. The real interesting thing about this, is that there's been no media coverage of it whatsover. In almost any country, when it's a pretty damn big issue at the moment. 2459
