The Flood / Re: Today I bench'd my entire bodyweight« on: December 02, 2015, 11:19:20 AM »
Kinda puts things in perspective if I think about ants a little bit. If you're able to lift your own weight, then technically speaking you're able to lift 1x your own weight. Ants are well known for being capable of lifting 10x their own body weight. Hard to imagine myself lifting 10x my own weight.
I don't think the world's strongest human was even able to lift 10x his own weight. It gives me a bit of appreciation for the the way things naturally engineer themselves to a degree. You know, there you are, a big walking collection of "bits," all working together to make one thing we call a human being. Whatever you expose that tangle of parts to, it adapts, slowly. Environment shapes you, and you shape your environment. And your bits and pieces respond, growing weaker or stronger. Funny. 2104

Ya. It's a handy thing to be able to lift your own body weight. I started out this year in piss poor health and worked over the last 10-11 months to get back in livable shape again. I surpassed being able to lift and carry my own weight a while back a few months ago. But still pushing it.
Couple days ago I picked something up and moved it. Figure it was pretty close to my current maximum limit for lifting things. A 280 pound generator. I weigh 220. So, not bad I guess. 2105

Hardest part of the winter for me, honestly. If there were ever a time for me to be depressed or to get slapped with something unpleasant, Christmas seems to be the target date.
I try to enjoy it for what little moments I can. But it wouldn't be christmas if I wasn't dreading what was coming ahead. 2110

They represent states of being/status for Forerunner devices. As you can see, my profile picture is a clear example of darkhorse/10 artworkSad thing is that the art in the last few issues was actually pretty nice Maybe so. But the Forerunners seem pretty proud of their high level AI's. The one portrayed there is interesting if you start to look at it's design. Look at the three colours on the eyes and take my colour theory into account. Notice how they're ringed and connected to each other. Forerunner society had three big powerhouse classes. The scientists, Lifeworkers, Military, Promethians, and Engineers, Builders. So, if we take a look at that big interconnected ring, what does it encompass? The symbol in the middle of the machines faceplate. And if I remember right, that's the symbol of the mantle, no? See where I'm going here? 2117

Go look at sports, men do better in almost every category. Men aren't weaker, they just don't absorb pain as easily. No, see, the terms mess things up. I'm not saying that they're physically weaker in the sense of muscle. They're physically weaker in the sense of health. More guys are born with birth defects, in bad condition, or die at birth than women do because of the physical genetic differences. Men die earlier than women by a large margin, Average male lifespan is 60-70. Female is 80-90. Even if you took a population of men who physically worked hard all their lives, and women who worked physically hard all their lives, women would still live longer because they've got the more durable system built into them. 2122
The Flood / Re: Which gender has it worse?« on: December 01, 2015, 01:15:39 AM »
I think most people forgot the point of the thread here though Ender. You asked for the baseline physical difficulties. Not the social difficulties. Everybody here mostly seems to be talking about the social issues.
Which, again, has its ups and downs for both sides. I'll comment on my particular side since it's the only one I can accurately know. As I guy, socially, I have a metric fuck ton of responsibilities to uphold for myself to even vaugely be considered by any woman I bump into as somebody worth being with. I need to have a house. Or a property. A home base, basically. I need to have an income and to be able to support myself. I need to be in prime fucking shape, not a lazy bone in me. If I want to start a relationship with somebody, I have to take the initiative because they won't. If you come on too strong, a woman gets spooked and backs off. Play too weak, and you lose your chance. Even if I have a good personality, a woman will not so much as look at me or consider me if I do not project interest in them. Which is an issue for me because my sex drive is basically gone at this point. I don't project attraction or show interest anymore. Neither do I feel it. So, no woman is going to look at me, study me, look at my flaws, and say "I wanna hang around with this guy even though he's got some off bits to him." In order for a relationship to be considered, I basically have to have this entire fucking base set up, be it myself, or a home, or anything really. And I don't even want a kid. I realize that I'd make a poor father at the present time. Maybe at all times. I don't even want sex. I gotta do all this analytical shit, be absolutely on fucking point, and essentiallly, Mr. Fucking Perfect in all avenues, to even be considered. It'd be nice if I could bump into a lady with a real damn good head on their shoulders who was a little bit of a social anomaly and not like the common crowd, so that maybe they'd look at me in a different light and not think only about their own physical needs and wants. But those are rare finds. Further lowering my chances of any success whatsoever. Social pressures for ya. There's a lot of reasons why I'm depressed. That's one of them. A societal mantle that I'll never be able to live up to even if I tried my best. Cause that's what I'm doing now and it's not good enough. And what does a woman have to do? Look nice. Be friendly. Hell. For simpler people she doesn't even have to have a good head or a personality. Just look pretty. Which, if I read through this thread, is another load of bullshit in itself for ladies to have to deal with. My point, both sides have shit to them. 2123
The Flood / Re: Which gender has it worse?« on: December 01, 2015, 12:51:55 AM »
I hear passing a kidney stone is equal or greater than the pain of childbirth for guys. Actually physically measured I believe.
On the subject of pain however, there's some interesting statistics about guys and gals when it comes to pain and survival. Statistically, newborn baby girls are often born healthier than boys and often have less defects and higher survival rates. This is partially in due to how sperm works. Male sperm are not as strong as female sperm. They carry less genetic material and are very quick, but they don't often have the strength to breach an eggs protective membrane, and so they die off quickly, vs that of a female sperm, which carries more genetic material, travels slower, but has the time to wait for an opening in the egg membrane that the male sperm doesn't. Statistically speaking, female gunshot victims are more likely to survive than males due to how much trauma the female body can take. Women aren't physically more pain resistant when it comes to feeling, but their bodies can endure more pain and more stress due to the whole ordeal of childbirth. A woman's nervous system is actually wired to take more punishment than a guys. So basically, guys are born weaker, can die through less trauma, and burn out faster than women in terms of aging. And we still gotta do all the heavy lifting, take all the hits like a meatshield, and be nice gentlemen in the process. 2124

No, but women can get away with that. You're skewed there. Wrong actually. I know cases of reversed roles. Obviously lazy guys who are well past healthy who have a woman who supports them. And I know that I myself would never stand for a woman who couldn't handle herself and wasn't afraid to get dirt on her hands and join me in my day to day business. 2125

Not gonna lie, all the ghosts I'm getting makes my penis hard. It's such an underrated and underplayed vehicle this time around. And I recently unlocked the sword variant which makes me happy. Literally one base capture into the game and I can start running around making the enemy team unhappy.
I just sell all my req packs except for ghosts and vehicles since there's no point to using power weapons whatsoever. |
