Because you literally can't sink a landmass unless you level a techtonic plate or you have enough explosives to blow through an entire mountain.
Is there anything we can do to combat rising sea levels other pump less carbon emissions into the air? Since the Chinks and India couldn't give two shits about the environment I don't think reducing emissions will be very effective.
Nope. Nothing can currently be done. We're already in the runaway environmental effects. In order to even make a dent, you'd need to actually stop every single carbon emission on the planet. Shut down everything. And that wouldn't stop it at this point because it's moving on its own now. So, long story short, we dun goofed, the weather's gonna do some dammicky shit, things are gonna get messy, and it'll be a long fucking time before the weather stabilizes once more. It was nice while it lasted, Venice.

Here's the thing amigo. All the activity of coop and multiplayer is higher in New Game +.
Unfortunately, they actually built the game around New Game +. This includes multiplayer.
Invasion rates are much, much higher in new game +, and it's far easier to get summoned as a red phantom if you use an orb or the red soapstone.
Co-op is a little iffy. It's always like that in dark souls. The first months of the game are heavy on co-op, and as the game ages the player base shifts to the multiplayer since everybody and their grandmother can already solo what the game dishes out.
