Serious / Re: What is the speed of gravity?
« on: December 23, 2015, 11:23:46 PM »
This is something I talked about with a friend a while back. In theory, gravity obeys einstien's nice old math equation.

For instance, if the sun suddenly where to dissappear entirely, it would take 8 minutes for our planet to stop continuing on its normal track before it was flung straight ahead in the most relevant direction. And, as we were flying away, the further planets in our system would still be there for about 18 hours, ending with Pluto, before every last planet was flung away completely due to the loss of the gravitational center of our cluster.

It's spooky to think about, really. Everything is held in balance and yet it's not an instantaneous force even though it's a constant force.

Quote
Rape was used as a tool by the Interahamwe, the chief perpetrators, to separate the consciously heterogeneous population and to drastically exhaust the opposing group. The use of propaganda played an important role in both the genocide and the gender specific violence. The Hutu propaganda depicted Tutsi women as "a sexually seductive ‘fifth column’ in league with the Hutus’ enemies".
It's almost like women were the victims.

White men in general are indeed the most historically brutal demographic
Historically literate person here; you don't know what you're talking about.
You understand that there literally hasn't been a single female genocidal leader in history, right?

I got another dream that sticks with me. A big desert, full of ruins. And in the middle of it, there's this rock, black and dark, looks like a big jagged shard. The sand doesn't creep up on it like it does to the ruins in the desert, and practically passes over it entirely.

The thing itself is a maze of pathways through the rock, and when you're inside it, it starts warping reality, screwing with your head. It takes you to different places, different times, and shows you different people. You get caught up in the illusion, but you're still like an outside viewer, because the things it shows seem to be more like memories.

Then the illusion breaks, and everybody in the illusion goes white eyed and smiles, all looking at you.

When whoever is in the warped reality jumps you to try and kill you, they start laughing.

I had one today. So, here we go.

Basically all I remember, is two women and a guy running from something. It was a vampire apparently. Big, tall, grey skinned, big wingspan. Dude was a macho man built like a brick and he had a big curly mustache. Reminded me of an irishman.

So, these two women get on a boat and they push off into a river runway like venice, while the guy stays behind. He goes into fisti cuffs with the vampire and basically goads him on. The critter is apparently amused and is just toying with him, before finally deciding to throw him around a bunch and then caving his chest outwards with a punch through the lower ribs.

The two women didn't do so well either. Their boat hit some ice.

The dream skipped ahead at that point and a bunch of people sitting on a porch all made this one woman  realize that she was dead after she slit her own throat, and that all of them were dead as well. The house with the porch was basically in the shadow of that venice like place.

Then I woke up.
Duuuuude....

Don't look at me matey. Left me just as fucking confused and ehhh about the day.

It'd make a good movie though. Dark. But full of those grade A shamalamadingdong twists.
Dreams are sneaky things. They do a lovely job of leaving you like "whaaa...."

Dreams are a pretty good indicator of where your subconscious is and other fun stuff.

Frankly, with the rare dreams I have that I actually remember, I'm not too keen on looking at what I've got chained up in there.

"Western values" are complete trash.
Right.

Competition, the rule of law, property rights, a consumer culture and the Protestant work ethic never did anything for anybody. . .

Welp, a consumer culture is pretty fucking dumb to be honest.

Problem with a consumer culture is that nobody knows when, and nobody wants to, put the brakes on. So then it quickly turns into over consumption and burns itself out. Like what it's doing now.

Rule of law, you talk like nobody else had that before and that it's just unique to western values.

Competion? Nigger please, competition isn't some magical thing bestowed on people by western values, it's inherent to most people's nature, and therefore, establishes itself on it's own.

And work ethic?

Check out the latest generations of kids. How's that work ethic doing there slick? Oh that's right, I forgot.

I gotta upvote the post talking about action needing to be done in some shittier part of the world or some crap to be fixed in mine and then consume more fucking cheeseburgers while I use a labtop built by some chinese kids getting paid peanuts for the month.

Really glorious culture we got. One for the ages that is. Instead of pyramids archeologists'll discover our landfills.

Serious / Re: Human nature and selflessness.
« on: December 23, 2015, 09:46:15 PM »
There's only one truly selfless act. Giving your life for another's knowing full well that your life stands to be lost in the process. I believe it only counts for strangers or people you don't know, not family, because you have a benefit of keeping a loved one alive who is close to you, even if you die.

But for a stranger, at that point, you actually, feasibly have nothing to gain and no ulterior agenda of a silent hope of some kind of benefit. It's one thing to save somebody you love. But it takes a lot more to do for somebody you don't know.

If anything this is just an interesting look at how silly everybody is here sometimes. Imagine that. Two days of back and forth responses over arguing a mod position and personal preference over how somebody conducts themselves on the forum.

It might have been done in short little bits but the time adds up. So much wasted time. Amazing.

Maybe you should use it as a wake up call. Whoever was involved in the whole exchange, all of you. Get your internet egos in line and start acting like fucking people, not kids. You don't need to defend your honour on the battlefield here, or take stupid banter trains like this because one person refuses to just walk off and do their own thing, and instead run their arguably useless opinions into the fucking ground several times over.

If it's not one asshole who doesn't give a shit about anybody or stepping on feelings, it's another who takes everything too god damn seriously. When are you going to stop and consider just how wasted it is? How petty, and childish, and utterly stupid it is to do shit like this?

Move on with your lives. Don't fucking waste them away on defending your proud internet ego.

Oh, so tropical then.

Most of the water I'm used to seeing or feeling is somewhere in the -20's

It snowed once in my lifetime here, and the next day it was back at around  30c.

Did they shut down everything?

The water was around the mid twenties in your unit of measurement for temperatures. It was a refreshing dip, aside from the various rocks I collided with.

But the pigs up here kill people doe.
wait what? How?

Most of the wild pigs up here are boars. Motorbike sized piggies with tusks that don't give a fuck.

And the farm pigs can sometimes honestly be no better.

Those wee little buggers in the pictures seem fine though.
oh okay I know what you're talking about, we have wild boars here in central Florida that are always a nuisance to cattle farmers. I was just imagining killer pigs running around attacking people, lol

You wouldn't be wrong. You go into the woods in the spring and the fall and more than likely you'll be in trouble. The piggies up here are mean.

It's Christmas. There's usually a lot of suicides during christmas.

I assume the same rule applies to borderline alcoholics. Every holiday a casual drinker gets a little closer to stepping over the line from casual to full blown.

Look on the bright side Naru. You may not want to go to mexico. But if I were in your shoes I'd be happy to. That may or may not paint a good picture of my state of things and it might not be a very good consolation, but hey.

Mexico. Go have fun with all the sneioritas.
But there is nothing to do over there anymore

Eat food. Mexico has lots of food.
I guess I'll eat tortas across the street from my house..

That's the spirit! Eat until you kill yourself.

There. I just found your escape loophole.

The Flood / Re: what's more important than physical attractiveness
« on: December 23, 2015, 09:45:08 AM »
Mental attraction. It's a twofer. You can't have an effective long lasting relationship without both feeling physically attracted in some way, or without feeling mentally compatible.

If you don't have both, it'll never work properly and it'll never last.
