It's just a pretty idiotic milestone to set for young boys. The social climate we have pretty much just says "fuck you" to any HS kid who doesn't have sex as his top priority. And people wonder why most colleges and fraternities turn a blind eye to rape.
What else should be their priority in HS?
Not learning and getting good grades.

It's highschool. Grades are meaningless. Most people go to community college anyway to save money (which is a great thing to do)
If I'm ranking my HS priorities
1. Sports
2. Girls/Sex
3. Enjoying myself
4. Grades
Maybe that's why I enjoyed highschool more than any other time in my life so far. Don't get me wrong, college was good and working now is great but there was just something special abou hanging out with close friends for 8+ hours a day, every week day.
Actually for those who plan on going to college, high school is where they start. They get good grades, try to get scholarships, figure out what they want to do.
Why? Because college anywhere is expensive, and people need all the money they can get. That doesn't mean become a recluse because "muh studies". Obviously you need to have a social life and enjoy yourself in high school, but don't be stupid and waste an opportunity to get plenty of college credit at the same time.
We're basically arguing over high school priorities now. You can admit your view is dumb and we can leave it at that.
My view isn't dumb. I barely cared about my grades and still graduated top 15%. Highschool is easy, thats why its stupid to stress about grades at all.
Colleges don't even care that much about your grades anyway. All about extracurriculars and SAT.
While this is mostly true, having a certain GPA will qualify/disqualify you for certain scholarships.
