I'm going to go ahead and move this to Gaming.

« on: July 28, 2014, 01:35:09 AM »
I'm working on a playthrough of W2 just to have Pokemon from Unova.

Can't wait for Alpha Sapphire
I had to buy Black 2 off of ebay just so I could transfer over all my event Pokemon (and their clones). And whoever had the game last left their profile on the cartrage, so now I have a Genesect and a few other wonder card rarities.

Go into your profile >> Look and Layout preferences and put in your time offset. By default, the site is going to post in the central timezone (since that's where I am and I am the damn admin).

Do we have avatars yet? If so, can they be viewed on mobile?- I don't seem to be able to see them or change mine if thy are available.
At small screen sizes the avatars are discarded to give the post body plenty of room. While it would be nice to have avatars there as well, right now it's breaking the site and it's pretty low on the priority list.

It will be taken care of eventually, though. I mean...probably. :)

EDIT: also, you can change your avatar in your profile settings. Either upload one or link to one. They must be 90px by 90px or they'll get resized.

The Flood / Re: So, how long until this place goes to shit, too?
« on: July 28, 2014, 01:13:07 AM »
I give it until August 5th.

I guess the good thing is that this isn't reliant on some sort of parent company as the admin here owns the server himself. So as long as people aren't posting things like CP and getting the feds involved this place should be fine.
I'll just turn in anyone who posts CP to the police, so we should be good either way.

I just want to see DemonicChronic in some position to do design on the site. The guy is talented.
I'd like to see some of his work. Do you have any links?

It should be installed now. Check it out and see.

News / Choose Your Mods
« on: July 28, 2014, 12:44:35 AM »
Ok, here are your top picks (selected from your thread and a few PMs I received), so vote away. The poll lasts for a day and you can change your vote as many times as you wish, but results will be hidden until it's over.

This is also not the be-all, end-all decision. I will strongly, strongly consider the top two choices as the next moderators, but at the end of the day I need trustworthy and reliable mods.

I've also excluded top choices that haven't registered yet. If they aren't here, they can't moderate very well, I'd wager.

Go forth and vote.

Septagon / Re: Notifications
« on: July 28, 2014, 12:02:11 AM »
I've made them last 20 seconds once they appear, but that's the best quick fix I can do until I get everything else covered. There's also a section in your profile that'll display all the threads you're being notified of.

I've installed a notification mod. Let me know how it goes, guys.

Wrap it in YouTube tags.

It's not a feature yet. It will be.

Trust can only be modified every 24 hours by each user. It's also restricted by post count, so it is not possible to create a new account to wreck someone's trust.

Wait so what is trust and how does it work? How do you do stuff with other people's trust?
It's an invisible count of your reputation. It's used to calculate ranks and prefixes.

The Flood / Re: What do you want out of this?
« on: July 27, 2014, 10:21:30 PM »
Also, signatures should be at the bottom of posts, and automatically seen. Like on the ProBoards site.
I don't like that idea. It makes everything load super slow on my dental-floss Internet cables.
Sigs will stay where they are. That is not going to change.

Liking is on the way and notifications are halfway there (emails). Both'll be fixed soon.

I got an error. I forgot exactly what it said, but it went something like

max_questions' resource (current value 75000)

It wouldn't let me navigate to any pages.
It's because we are so popular. I already sent in a support ticket to my host.

I'm hoping to get a 3ds for the ruby/sapphire remakes as they look interesting... But mostly all of the new pokemon just look stupid, an ice cream pokemon? Really?
I consider the third gen the last GOOD gen. Four was OK, but I cannot stand the last two.

Thank you for illustrating something I need to remove. Also, blame my host for the outage. I'll be having words with them and hopefully get it taken care of.
Are we able to get notifications on the site?
Push the notify button. It's below and above each thread.

Those are still kind of in the process of being fixed. They're still getting saved, but they are not reflected in the forum as of yet. That may change in the future. If not, the field will be removed.

I think it was because Noelle reported it
Proboards won't just take someone's word. They'll investigate first. Obviously there was someone or something breaking the rules.

Let's try not to get this one nuked.
It can't, unless you're doing something obviously illegal. But then I'd just ban you, so... 8)

Is it okay if we do nominate ourselves?

If so, then I'll nominate myself. As I said in the other thread, I have experience moderating on a couple websites, include one that is strictly devoted to gaming. I've got access to the website from my laptop and phone and will be on often, and I'm on the East Coast. I also am neutral with most members here.

The only problem I see with voting is it becomes a popularity content, over who can best assist in running the forums and keeping the peace.
I won't just blindly hand out a mod roll based on the majority opinion. I'll vet the top nominees first and if there's someone who is particularly an asshole or feels like the wrong fit, I'll pass them on.

I do think it's important to have the members have a say on who polices them, though.
