It's not even a mobile site. It's just the regular site in a smaller window - you get the same stuff if you go in a small window on a computer.

SMF uses the old table rendering method, which really, really sucks for responsive design. That said, it's definitely a 'proper' mobile site in the sense that it has viewport meta restrictions and media queries for resizing and rearranging content.
What it is not is "mobile first" which is not ever going to happen with SMF. Once we eventually switch to WordPress / bbPress, it'll be a mobile first website.
How about we never use wordpress ever.
Why? I am super familiar with developing with WP and bbPress is pretty fucking rad. It's more stable than SMF and allows waaaaay more control right out of the gate. If you are imagining a vanilla, horrible looking page with a "blogroll" link column to the right, that's not what I am talking about. I'm saying we switch the engine to WP, keep this look (maybe make it a little more flat), and use WPs superior article/blog system to dominate the internet.

Well then (that was my design).
I had a hard time getting used to the new one for a while because I always liked the old one more. Yours felt more uniform and I never liked the symbol being flipped upside down.
The way it is now, I'll always see it as upside down.
Isara and I talked about the jaggedness of the new logo a bit and I do sort of kind of agree with you. The lowercase letters just don't align like the uppercase ones did. I prefer the septagon upside down but it wouldn't look good with the old font.

Isara largest contribution was the header/navigation at the top and also the new css color scheme. Also the logo. That was mostly Isara. There might have been a few games as well, but I don't know if those are still alive.

I'd call them above average and they also kind of go with the theme. FYI: if you are wanting to make banners and submit them, please use Century Gothic, Open Sans, Raleway, etc. Serif and bubbly fonts don't fit.

Installed it. It needs work but it's a good start.
Oh, yeah I suck at programming. If you have any suggestions, please PM me on what to do. Maybe even give me an example in code? I'm definitely no programmer.
Change the buttons to match? Maybe the icons in the toolbar? The logo? Rapture from the game has a very...rusted appearance and it's also during the late 40's / early 50's (I think) but just look at some of the logos and structure designs in the background image and base your theme around that. Changing the BG and making shit transparent is kind of...basic.
Well, I'm a total noob at all of this still. This was based off of Sol's script anyway. But wait, how would I change the buttons to match the theme? Don't I need closed source code for that?
If you want to take this theme and make it better Cheat, I would love for you to do that. Because I have no sense of direction with this scripting stuff. I'm not formally educated in it like you are. I'm more of a visual learner than a math guy.
The icons are image backgrounds and can be overridden with css. Just upload different images to imgur and change them out. Same with the logo. The forum buttons are all CSS colors / borders and can easily be modified.
