they're bullshit, thats what they are. "oh, dark hole? thats fine, Ill just pendulum summon another 7 monsters next turn!"

There are 2 Pendulum zones on the field. You can place Pendulum monsters in them as if they were Continuous Spell cards, and when you have both zones occupied you can once per turn special summon as many monsters from your hand and ones face up in your extra deck who's levels are between but not equal to the pendulum scale numbers on the card.
(For example if the scale of one card is 2 and the other card is 7 you can summon monsters levels 3, 4, 5 and 6)
When pendulum monsters on the field would go to the graveyard they are sent from the field to the extra deck face up instead.

It's a massively broken mechanic and a large part of why I dont play much anymore.

Everything starting from ZeXal has been unneeded and accomplished nothing but further breaking the game. Dragon rulers a  was hell finally boiling over and spilling into everywhere else, and then qliphorts was all of that collapsing into one giant singularity of bullshit.

I bought a bunch of overpowered cards on eBay, used them once or twice, and then never looked at them again. I remember having a huge pile of them under my bed.

Also, the fuck is up with the new rules? Pendulum monsters? Chain cards? Synchro summoning? What kind of witchcraft is this?

tbh I got a deck in grade 1 with a Winged Dragon, garden™ of the fortress and a Dank Hole, but I lost it after like, 2 years and never actually played.

Dragon Rulers, Infernoids, Greydles and fucking Fluffals/Frightfurs as well as the obvious pendulum bullshit, on top of things like the Galaxy deck make 90% of duels boring. Better to take a few decent middling decks like Gem Knights or some cataclysmically shit ones like Roids and the Curryfiend deck and pit them against each other.

Chaining has always been in yugioh and Synchros were introduced in like 2008.

I played a little when I was a little kid, but I went by show-rules. AKA fuckyouIwin in nearly any situation I could. I only got beat by more skilled bullshitters.

MTG is more my pace now tbh.

Yes and no. MTG is divided into to categories: Constructed and Limited. The former uses decks built in advance, the latter uses cards only attained during the tournament.

Constructed:
-Standard (cards released within the past year are legal)
-Modern (Sets from 2003 onward are legal)
-Vintage (All sets legal, some cards restricted to one per deck)
-Legacy (more limited version of Vintage)

Limited:
-Sealed (build deck out of 6 booster packs, minimum of 40 cards)
-Booster Draft (8 player mode where each trades cards gained from 3 sealed booster packs to build deck)

I had such creative bootlegs as "Fire Monster", "Ice Monster", "Three Machine Dragon", and "Evil Wizard", all of which is technically accurate but "Darkly Big Rabbi" is inexcusable.
