I can vaguely think of Spec Ops: The Line, which is certainly a game that you lose just by playing it <.<
So not like Shogun 2 where you can put a hundred hours into a campaign and still lose because realm divide and the computer is a bastard, but a game where the final level is scripted to end in failure? FUCK YEAH! I love stories that end like that.
I know I lose every time I try to beat that part where the damn chopper is chasing you through the tower...
Yes. I absolutely would. Indeed that was the ending I was hoping Mas Effect was going to have.
You want to talk about happy endings? How about the failure that is Gears of War Judgement, where the campaign takes place in Halvo Bay, one of the hugest losses after Emergence Day. Tons of people were killed, survivors were scattered everywhere, and the whole city was destroyed. Yet in Judgement, it is a happy ending and everyone is celebrating.
Damn right. Rod Ferusson and Black Tusk Studios better fix the series.
It would be interesting to play a game where you're the losing side, but I wouldn't want my final defeat to seem like some scripted event. It needs to be spectacular.
A WW2 game where you play as the Germans would fill that role <.<It'd never get made in a hundred years though, can you imagine the unholy supernova of butthurt from every idiot on the planet? A game where you play as a nazi and kill Yanks/Commies/Britbongs. I'm pretty sure it would give peter hitchens a heart attack >.>
Company of heroes had like 3 German campaigns and I think Brothers in Arms 2 had a German campaign too.
