Wait everyone got mad about the watch dogs downgrade but this is okay?
Completely different scenario. And no it's not okay.
I don't see how. Both games were displayed at E3 or whatever sporting incredible graphics however they have since been downgraded. For one game (watch dogs) there was outrage, however no one seems to mind the downgrade in witcher
Watch Dogs had the settings shown hidden away. The game shown at E3 actually existed. All of the assets from reveal to release are basically the same (besides the E3 settings being switched off, of course).
The reveal of TW3 was a vertical slice (i.e the game didn't actually exist beyond what they showed); nothing more than smoke and mirrors.
What they showed originally was guesstimate footage of what they wanted the final product to be, which CDPR even said.
It's easy to make vertical slices look extremely good, because it's just a very small zoned off section of the game and because the rest of the actuall game doesn't exist.
Creating an entire game that's as big as the scale of TW3 with that visual fidelity isn't viable. They'd blow all of their resources before getting anywhere near the end of development.
They obviously couldn't show off the final game back at the reveal because the game didn't actually exist as it currently is back then.
And yes there is outrage. There's massive threads on NeoGAF and Reddit about the downgrade.
And no, I'm not shilling.
