Why has Nintendo been so retarded for the last 3 console generations?

A flower which blooms on the battlefield
The Nintendo train will flop soon, don't you worry. They may have the better financial success, but when it comes to leaving something for history to remember, they have nothing on Sony or Microsoft. Almost everyone I know has a Wii, but they never use it. They are either on the Xbox, the PS, their phone, or they just forgot about Nintendo all together.
>Leave nothing for history to remember
>Literally saved the industry
>Has the most iconic characters and games in the industry

But sure.

are you serious? are you ACTUALLY serious? Nintendo is a god damn icon, and their characters are known worldwide and BEYOND the gaming industry. Mario is a household name, and Pokemon is known by all, in what world is generic space soldier #19937 and Laura Croft clone #48 more memorable than a nintendo icon?
Ah yes, Mario and Pokemon.. Two franchises that have been milked into an oblivion. They make Call of Duty: Advance Warfare look like the new boys in town again. All those titles you mention are junk man. They've been used and abused and practically forgotten.

Have they created any new iconic characters in the past four years?
Neither has MS or Sony

If you count them, Titanfall Titans were created by MS. Don't know (care) enough about Sony to say. Though saying the Titans is debatable at best. As much as I have zero interest for anything Nintendo does, they do have the most milked iconic franchises.

However, it's a matter of market. When something is for kids, parents know about it as well as they are buying it for their kids. Something like Halo is marketed for teenagers/ adults so ultimately the family doesn't factor in as much. Nintendo has the biggest market and MS/Sony have the 'core' market which isn't as big.

I know.. the truth hurts, makes you even want to cry inside. But Nintendo is lacking more originality in their games. Have they created any new iconic characters in the past four years? Or are they still waiving their Kirby dicks and using characters that are 10+ years old in new games?
You can't make icons with the snap of a finger. Do bands become iconic the day after they release their first album?

Besides, Nintendo has 10x the icons Microsoft or Sony will ever have. MS has Master Chief and the closest thing Sony has to iconic is Sackboy.

Have there been any Ratchet releases slated for the PS4 yet?

I was gonna say Crash and Spyro were pretty big PS icons, but then I remembered that this isn't 2000 and later Spyro games were multi-console.

Oh yeah.... I totally forgot about that even after the hype I had when they announced that. Thanks

Almost always, with moderation
ITT: Nintendo fanboys

In all seriousness, the whole "let Nintendo keep doing what they're doing thing" is a bit of a bad thing to do, IMO. I know they can come out with some solid titles, granted the more solid ones have been given a shit ton of sequels, but with what they can do, it shouldn't be hard to expand and appeal to a broader audience. They don't have to compete with MS or Sony to do so either. They have quite the niche for games, and I believe they could do even better if they tried some experimenting with new games.

I don't even like nintendo and even I know they are more iconic and successful than Sony and Microsoft.
