I loved Reach. It was probably my favorite halo game. I honestly don't understand why the vast majority of people on here hate it so much. Almost everyone I talk to who isn't on this site loved reach, but everyone on here puts it as the worst halo game ever. Why?

Reach sucked, Halo 4 sucked worse.

However, I believe that zero bloom, No Sprint Reach is better than halo 3.

Any beta player will tell you that they completely downgraded the original ideas into the final product we have today. The beta was fun, whereas the actual game initially wasn't, at least for me. I guess that's where a lot of my distaste originated from back in 2010, so I did admittedly ignore the positive aspects because of that.

Looking back, it's not a bad game, just a bit disappointing. It's not the worst Bungie's ever done, but it's definitely not the pinnacle of their achievements.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
I loved it.

Vanilla Reach was horrible. ZBNS was pretty good, but the DMR kind of messed everything up. With full bloom, it was too random- DMR battles weren't decided by skill, but RNG. 80% bloom was a decent fix, but bloom was still a fundamentally random mechanic. With zero bloom, the DMR was just too powerful- it outclassed every other weapon in the sandbox that wasn't a power weapon at all ranges. Created a very stale weapon metagame. Reach also had a pretty poor selection of maps (forge world notwithstanding.) Reach grenades had a really broken tracking mechanic and huge explosion radii. Introducing armor abilities (especially jet pack and armor lock) and a loadout system into what was still fundamental an arena shooter really messed with the previously balanced nature of Halo's multiplayer- everyone wasn't on equal footing anymore. The maps were poorly designed around mobility-based AA's. Campaign and forge were ok.

Overall, reach is very unbalanced compared to H1-3.

I dont get it. Its random yeah, but you can still control it by not spamming.

I dont get it. Its random yeah, but you can still control it by not spamming.
That's really dumb in a few ways. 1) slows down gameplay 2) you're probably gonna lose the DMR battle to the kid who's spamming 3) that is not skillful in any way. The random nature of the DMR serves no purpose other than forgiving bad players and punishing good players, lowering the skill gap.

Reach wasn't bad.  I liked it.
But the Beta was definitely much better in terms of multiplayer.

What Halo Reach did you play? Noble 6 was as much of a hollow brick as the Rookie was

firefight could have used better netcode, too. it was almost as bad as ODST's firefight

- Vehicles made of Paper
- Banshee is OP
- Only 2 maps for Invasion
- Only 1 Forge Map
- No ranking system
- No space battles for multiplayer
- DMR is too powerful against everything
- Boring campaign
- The Cage and Asylum exist
- Sword Block
- Only 1 person can watch films in theater
- Most of the weapons are useless

The things Reach did right was the Armor Customization, Forge mechanics, and the UI.

There's no way anyone should be able to block the sheer force of the Energy Sword.
It was a free get out of jail card too.
"You were dumb enough to go head to head against a sword user? Well just melee it and you'll be fine".

Sword clash wasn't as bad.
