If you get 1st place in a race, did you lose? Because you got the lowest possible number?
Literally the worst comparison ever.
The numbers have different meanings in the different contexts, you utter twonk.

30fps is the bottom line.
It's below this number when things like input latency and visual feedback latency come into play. These things are bad.

I said below 30fps. Not at 30fps.

I have no issue with games being 30fps.
How is a lower number "worse" than a higher number just because it is lower?

If you get 1st place in a race, did you lose? Because you got the lowest possible number?
Anything below 30 is very very choppy and your controls respond slower and not in synch.

Or what Citrus Orange Juice Snake said.

Yeah. Good job gleaning my fucking point.

In some contexts, 1fps would be a better choice than 1000000000000000fps.

They're just numbers.

Not objectively. Maybe input latency and visual feedback latency is part of the game/experience.

hey
I sure do love playing games that aren't responsive because the framerate's too low or choppy

That sure is FUN

Yeah, I know--but that's still not an objectively bad thing. A clever developer could factor the choppiness into the game, somehow. Don't ask me how--I'm just illustrating a point.

The point is moot since it would never ever happen.

Because the obvious point is that frame rate is just a number, as are all numbers. Nothing is objectively "better" or "worse" than anything. You can talk about if you prefer one thing over another, but no, a higher number is number objectively better than a lower number.

Why?

That's just your opinion, you realize.

Still, I don't think the fact that it hasn't been done before makes the point moot. The possibility is there--maybe it will never happen, but why does that matter? What's that got to do with me being right or wrong about it?

I know what I'm saying is weird as fuck. All I'm trying to do is make sense out of it for you, to get you to understand my perspective. What I'm saying really isn't that complicated--I've said it repeatedly: Numbers are just numbers.

You don't like choppiness? Okay, cool. That's your preference. I don't like choppiness either.
But it's not objective.

Nothing about PC gaming is objectively better about console gaming--nothing.

At this point I wasn't even taking about PC vs console, but I'm just gonna default with Citrus on this.

No offense, but you really do whatever it takes to not be in the wrong, and it honestly surprises me at times. Still, I'm not saying that as an insult, more of an observation.

I think I remember examples of games putting a delay in control responses (I can't actually think of anything specifically), but I could never see things like frame rate being put below 30 fps or visual feedback latency ever being affected intentionally, people just don't like that, and even delays in control responses can be something people dislike, even if it's intentional

And that it objectively performs worse the lower it gets. Especially below 30.

You're just repeating yourself, though. What you think is worse, I might think is better. That's the bottom line.

You're making sense in the logic you're presenting with your own view on it, but not in the way everything actually works in the industry.
