BR in Halo 2 was fine until people bitched and now in Halo 3 its underpowered.

The only problem with H3's BR is that you have to lead shots instead of it being hitscan like in H2.

Because it's not fun for those on the receiving end.

Destiny's Crucible is pretty terrible for this. Everyone likes to use supers because they're powerful and satisfying to use. But it's extremely annoying to have them used on you, what is basically an insta-kill power with no real way of avoiding it unless the player using it sucks at the game. It's bullshit and frustrating to be killed by them, but you can't really nerf them because they're designed to be insta-kill powers.

That said, Destiny may be a weird example seeing as the idea of Crucible completely goes against everything Destiny wants to be.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
Something overpowered gets nerfed, and then it's only a matter of time before the next thing is discovered and declared OP. Then that gets nerfed too.

MW2, everything was ridiculously overpowered so everything balanced each other out somehow. I feel like this was the game that changed the way developers looked at nerfing/buffing things.

Well sometimes it's justified. Like Palpatine's force lightning being able to hit people through walls. Of course, there's plenty of times when it's just a powerful weapon that people complain about, which leads to developers caving.  I think every weapon should have its pros and cons so they are all equally valid and usable, but I guess that's not an easy thing to do, otherwise, we'd see it more.

The only problem with H3's BR is that you have to lead shots instead of it being hitscan like in H2.
I never really had a problem with that, all it meant was adjusting and using slightly more skill to hit your targets consistently. The Halo 3 BR is still a good weapon.
I think most people transitioned smoothly to the Halo 3 BR, especially on good connections it wasn't that noticeable.

a lot of the people who had problems with the BR in halo 3 were baddies who couldn't aim straight without Halo 2s massive auto aim and bullet mag to hold their hand
