Would the internet accept that or would it throw one massive shit storm and demand the heads of the reviewers which didn't give it a 10?

I think people would throw a shitstorm regardless of the game's quality. Some would say it deserves better, some would say it deserves worse, but I don't think very many would agree with it being 'average' because everyone has a different idea of what an 'average' game is.
