I'm partial to Halo 1, although Reach was an appropriate modernization of that. Halo 4 looked stunning, but the graphics seemed boring after too much exposure to it.

Halo 3 just seemed too blocky and a tad bit cartoony for me. ODST was an all-around improvement, however, and I wish Halo 3 would have looked that good.

Halo 3, you didn't even explore the ring. You visited areas you went to in Halo CE. And it was only for a nostalgia trip.

Halo 4 looks great a lot of the time but can also look downright ugly (from a design AND technical standpoint) other times. I actually liked Halo: Reach's aesthetic the most. It wasn't painful to look at and they nailed the character design.
