Never really looked up for reviews

I can remember a few cases where ive been like 'what, this has to be higher/lower'

I still look into reviews, but I mostly do that to see the point of view of the author and how much is something worth reading or just random words to promote a game.

The "7.8; too much water" fiasco was pretty ridiculous. I never took critic scores too seriously anyway. One man's opinion.

I don't remember the last time I read review with a score attached for anything other than additional information on a game.

Fable 3 and GTA 5

Considering the fact that I fucking love fable 1&2 more than most games made me lose faith in lioonhead.

You can't really put faith in companies whose sole purpose (the sites and the game publishers) is to make money. I only read small snippets from every review.

I don't like review scores in general, I prefer a "Yes/No" system like Kotaku uses.

Edit: Hm, I never usually read reviews in general and I never noticed the "What I Played" on the Kotaku reviews in the bottom corner. That's actually a really nice thing to have there.

Prior to Fable III I found myself checking metacritic a lot because I thought that averaging the biases of multiple publishers was closer to a true representation of the game. I wasn't steered wrong until Fable III came around and showed me how horribly misconceived that notion was.

Me neither, I like seeing piecemeal dissections of game elements and seeing how people evaluate them or just watching game videos and making superficial judgments (because I'm not playing them). The 10/10 system is great for misleading people, I think.

Can't think of a specific game review that killed my trust in published game reviews, but I got tired of IGN's bullshit by the time I was fifteen.

Destructoid's Halo Wars review, which was made after Jim Sterling only played the first three levels. The only reason the review was eventually changed is because he got called out on it.
