Which Game Rating Destroyed Your Faith in Published Reviews?

Xbox 360 Metacritic score (critic): 80
Game Informer: 90
IGN: 85

The user reviews were much more in line with my reception of it (6.5).
The only part of that game I liked was the curveball second part of the game, but they even managed to mess that up.
And then I knew... even polemic shows like Zeropunctuation can be more accurate than "general consensus."

I stopped trusting published reviews many, many years ago. Now I just use sites like IGN and Gamespot for gaming news rather than reviews.

Do you remember which one was the main influence in stopping that trust?

I'm not as invested in gaming as I once was, and I've never really followed gaming news.

Gamespot gave GTA 4 a 10/10 rating. Literally how and why.

None. I've never seen why taking somone (with different tastes) elses opinion would decide if I enjoy it. Unless it's like, a universal this is amazing/ this sucks. I prefer to watch YT videos because then I can get somewhat of an impression of how the game plays.

It's not a rating but it's the shit with IGN. They go from starting out with an article about the shit that's wrong with Battlefront, then they make one about if we should be worried about the game and now they have one about there being no reason to worry about it. Then or Halo 4 in their review they praise the game and about two or so years latter they have an article that's bashing it.

i dunno even when i was young i didn't care much for reviews and i always reserved judgement until i played a game myself. i'd watch reviews but only for information in regards to games i was interested in buying
