Shut the hell up. Bethesda Fallout games have some of the richest lore in any RPG ever made. It really annoys me to see these constant threads about Bethesda are bad Bethesda can't make decent RPG's I get really pissed because Bethesda RPG's are the only games that are RPG's and are fun. RPG's don't all have to be turn based things. It most certainly has RPG heavy elements in it. It's an action RPG.

I'm in the same boat really, I prefer New Vegas and all, but I still enjoy Fallout 3. And I plan on playing Fallout 1 and 2 soonish, so I'll see if it makes me dislike 3.

I've only ever managed to finish the game with the Brotherhood, all the other factions were too underwritten for me to keep invested. I have tried a couple times, but I just stop playing after a certain point.

No love for the Railroad or the Institute? Those were my two main options, but I chose the institute in the end, and when I asked my IRL friend he said the same, and then a classmate said he had also played Fallout 4, so I talked and eventually he said he had also chosen the institute since their place was shiny and modern, whereas the rest of the wasteland was a... wasteland.

Only playthrough I ever finished was for the Institute.

Shit gets kinda weird in dialogue if your PC is called Sean and your son who is now older than your father is called Sean and everyone is chattering away at both of you.

It was alright, yeah. I just think their writing was very black and white a lot of times

But the world of Fallout 3 itself was so much more creative than what they gave us in Fallout 4. Boston is without a doubt the most boring of the Fallout locations, with its only saving grace being the verticality of the city. And that's not even going into how poorly optimized it is going in that city.

the game and all factions were shit but i always went institute. i justify it to myself by roleplaying the idea that once im in charge all the shitty things like kidnapping and forced experiments wont happen anymore and i will repurpose the institute's facilities for the good of the wasteland, à la old world blues.

railroad is a pathetic nothing faction that isnt worth my time despite having good intentions. i hate killing them but they just dont have anywhere near the resources the institute does so i cant justify it within the context of the way i roleplay. brotherhood are basically nazis so they always get the smoking end of my guns. i make the minutemen work with the institute.
