Don't know. I haven't played the multiplayer since November 2013.

But the population dropped faster than any game I have ever seen. The game would barely reach 100k players just a couple weeks after launch. The first DLC helped a little bit but it continued to decline rapidly over the next few months. More people were playing Halo Reach and Halo 3 around that time... I was one of those people.

Halo 5's multiplayer is actually good, judging by the beta. Halo 4's multiplayer was pretty fucking mediocre. It think it'll last a bit longer as long as they don't have another MCC launch on their hands.

Dunno. I'll buy any Halo game that has a campaign, likewise for any expanded universe and etc. fuck multiplayer.

But considering how many people said hey were done with Halo after Reach yet 4 had the biggest sales figures for any game in the series so far, I believe, I doubt it's going down the shitter yet.

I mean, 343's got a plan for their story for 30 years so they're obviously pretty confident about something. But even if te games went down but the books continued I'd be fine, that woul finally allow me to ditch Xbox.

343i didn't screw up on Halo 4, per se. The game was excellent, but the multiplayer took a different direction than that which a Halo game should take and that was it's downfall. The MCC, they did indeed screw up, and having a game this broken after 4 months is absolutely unacceptable.

Besides, even if the games go under there's nothing stopping them making books (Halo, not comics. I doubt comics'll stop nay time soon)

And they didn't screw up Halo 4. It's just different than previous Halo games.

I could see what you mean if you're talking about the comic books. That community gets smaller every year. But the Cinematic Universe is bigger than ever. With the recent success of Guardians of the Galaxy, and everyone and there mother getting hyped for Avengers 2, I don't see how it's fallen off the charts.

Sadly, this is true. MS wants to squeeze money out of Halo, but doesn't actually want to put the effort forth to make a decent running game. I understand them wanting to do that. It's not okay, but I get the reason.

MCC was not the game to do that with though. If that game had launched this year, no one would complain. Sure, that might be a few asshats on the forum that would have been like "But it's not Halo 2's Anniversary!!!", but fuck them. MS pulled an EA and made the game ship early to maximize profits, without caring what the consequences would be. If this game had a successful launch, you'd still have lots of people buying Xbones, telling their friends about it, and actually playing the game after it released. If the game worked on launch, everyone would be slobbering over 343 and MS's cocks. But no, they wanted to get a little bit extra profit than they would have otherwise by launching the game for Halo 2's Anniversary.

It's shit like this that makes me think back to the 80's, when companies just pumped out shit and incomplete games to get a quick buck. With the mobile market, indie games, and shitty AAA developers, it's basically the same thing now. I seriously hope we go through a game market crash soon so we can start getting decent game companies again.

It didn't sell the most, it had the quickest day one sales, mostly thanks to more marketing and the "Trust us, it's Halo" crap. It actually sold less than Halo 3 and I think possibly 2 and Reach (though I forget their sales).

It did nothing to keep people playing. It lost 90% of it's population in under 6 months.

It sold less in America, but globally you're right. You also have to take into account the base install size of xbox gamers at the time as well. A higher percentage of xbox players had Halo 2 than 360 players had Halo 4.

MP is a step above Halo 4 for sure. I'm more worried about campaign. Since we have another playable protagonist now, I'm expecting something on par with Halo 2's length. At the very least seven Chief missions and six Locke. I still feel like Chief needs a bit more than that though. I just want Halo 5 to reinvigorate Halo in some way. Halo 4 tried with Spartan Ops, and that failed (what a waste of resources that could have been allocated elsewhere). I wonder what it could be to spark some new life in the Halo franchise. Halo 4 did not really do anything remarkable.

The difference is, Marvel pumps out blockbusters to the point that they could completely half-ass one or two films and they'd still be commercial successes, while 343 is already losing the interest they had gathered prior to actually producing their shit, and even then it was just the remains of the fanbase of an already tired, old game franchise that hasn't returned to the same spotlight it was in a decade ago.

They can't afford to assume they'll continue having any sort of success for the next three decades, not when their thunder is fading now that everyone is realizing what kind of quality their games have and given the polarizing story decisions they're making.

To be fair, you can take something like Spiderman, redo the story everyone's heard 1000 times, but modernize the setting since the last series, and plenty will eat it up.
