Gen 1: They're all pretty interchangable tbh. I think Bulbasaur would benefit you the most during early game, then after that you would have a better team built around it,

Gen 2: Either Totodile or Typhlosion, it honestly depends on whatever I feel like using for that playthrough.

Gen 3: Torchic all the way, baby! Blaziken is my favorite Pokemon.

Gen 4: I hate them all but Piplup is the lesser of 3 evils

Gen 5: Ehhhh.................... Snivy I guess?

Gen 6: Gotta be Froakie! Greninja's a BAMF

Strongly disagree. Grass is a useful type to have around in competitive.

she's not into competitive

either way, i'd say grass is arguably the weakest type in competitive--type effectiveness-wise, no type in the whole game wants to be paired with grass, because it almost always adds a bevy of crippling weaknesses that it may not have already had

grass-type moves are resisted by more types than anything else, and grass itself offers no meaningful resistances to anything

its only utility that i can see is having an immunity to spore moves and leech seed, which is something

it's not a horrible type, but it's definitely underpowered imo

Disagree. Grass in Gen 1/3 make early game a breeze.
