The Created story-line. Should have continued Chief vs digi-Didact in an effort to claim the Mantle, Cortana stays dead, Mendicant Bias introduced, bam. Perfect story for Halo 5. Giving Chief three missions, huge slap in the face. Locke is a boring character. Missing gametypes at launch, un-inspired maps. Microtransactions. The extended lore we've been getting through novels and other printed material (excluding comics) has been better than the games and live action.

While I think 343's influence on Halo has been a net negative, they have done a lot of good stuff.
Halo 4's story is one of if not the best in the series and felt like a sequel to the OT where the rest of the game didn't. It did wonders for Chief's character and the setup between him and the Didact was really exciting. Shame the impact of that story was eradicated by Halo 5. Honestly, I would have preferred the series stopped at 4 than continued in the current direction.
The Forerunner Saga, regardless of how its relevance to the present has been handled, is amazing.
Escalation's first few issues were great and really felt like a proper Halo story while setting things up for the future.

Really my distate for 343i basically stems from them betraying my expectations for the story for the most part. Brian Reed needs to go, but the damage is already done.

I think they have their hearts in the right place. Honestly do. For awhile they were doing strong in the story department. It was different and interesting.
However, great ideas with poor execution. I get what they were going for with Halo 5, but honestly Cortana shoulda stayed dead and the Didact being the main enemy. Honestly I would have been a little better with the whole Created thing if it was actually The Didact acting as a Created. Luring Chief in with the Cortana disguise and convincing the AI of the universe against the humans. All to the goal of The Mantle.

NOW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN INTERESTING.
But no, alive and well Cortana. God damnit.

Most things i'm fairly indifferent towards, but the one thing that I will never forgive them for is the Reach TU.

Motherfuckers killed my favourite game to pander to forum crybabies, who promptly left it anyway and the people who were happy playing it dropped down into the ~1000 players online mark.

They actually made Reach semi-bearable; Vanilla Reach is easily the worst thing to happen to Halo. That's nice if you like bloom, punishment-free armor lock, more OP camo, sword-block, bleedthrough-free damage models, etc... but you're just objectively wrong if you do, that's all.

No seriously. How can Grifball in Halo 5 be biased towards the host, when the host of the game is a dedicated server?

Not like some IT asshat is sitting up in Microsoft's Azure Complex with an Xbox One spliced into one of Halo 5's servers and making sure he gets matched up with Nick most of the time.

If it was MCC, sure. The game did default back to peer-to-peer for almost every match, but Halo 5 literally has no peer-to-peer.
