Shinies got a bit devalued for me in pokemon x
after I got the shiny charm it was pretty easy to get anything I wanted in shiny (breeding)

the only legit shiny i've ever encountered was a shiny rayquaza in emerald and all that remains of that is a single blurry ipod picture from 2012 on my photobucket account

I dunno. I've been doing the Masuda Method for all my competitive Pokemon for years and I still haven't gotten a shiny out of it. Maybe I'm just extremely unlucky with shinies...

How many did you breed?

I MM'd for a shiny protean greninja, took about 450 frogs
Well I've bred ~30 competitive Pokemon in total, and it generally takes anywhere from 1-3 boxes per pokemon depending on if I'm starting out with the right nature or not. So I guess you can say I've hatched around 1800 eggs and still haven't gotten a shiny out of it.

Yeah, the RNGesus hates me when it comes to me getting my own shinies, but it seems to love me when it comes to Wonder Trade shinies...

Fairly certain your trainer ID also factors into whether or not you can get a shiny too. So it sucks to be you if you get the shit end of the Trainer ID stick.
