I play quite a few games that people tend to really hate, and it got me thinking, do we all have these "Guilty Pleasures" so to speak, and if so, how many?
Name your favorite unpopular games below, and of course, feel free to tell me how terrible my taste in games is.

Mine are Kingdom Hearts (I adore 2, days and BBS), Halo 4, Warframe, Watch Dogs and very very rarely Anthem
.

i dont know if id say i love it, but i recently replayed sonic 06 to grab all the remaining achievements and honestly i think it gets way more hate than it deserves

dont get me wrong the game is a mess, but it's definitely playable and can be fun at times. if they had gave it more time to cook in the oven i think it coulda been a great sonic adventure 3

it's definitely not the "worst game ever"

I really enjoyed the game Battleborn, but everyone was too into Overwatch at the time to give it a chance even though they had significant differences. It's a shame it's dead now with no dev support.

there was a time on the internet when people liked Fallout 3, and i thought it fucking sucked—but after i played it all the way through, i decided it was actually pretty good

once hbomberguy posted his "Fallout 3 is garbage" video, all of a sudden, nobody likes Fallout 3 anymore—including the people who once shat on me for not liking the game

i'll never forgive the internet for that

I really do hate the opinion bandwagoning YouTube has directly or indirectly hit gaming with.   Too many act like perfectly fine games are just ass because it's the socially acceptable answer and they aren't usually able to do anything than bring up the same few points, and if it was an original opinion, there'd be different reasons.

I think the worst YouTube offender of this is by far the Act Man.  You'll be hard pressed to find a video from him that is his own original opinion on a video game.  And he tries to cheat the system too by doing what he did with his destiny video.  He starts off by calling the game bad, then says "hey guys! Just the story! Don't have a civil war on me or other people in the comments."
He wants to rile people up but not deal with any flak as a consequence (in this case he wants to rile up halo fans that hate destiny but not make destiny fans mad) and I'm pretty mad about it because he just says bandwagon and basic popular opinions without anything new and it works.

The only original opinion he's ever had that I've seen was that battlefield 2042 was actual fucking cheeks.  Because before that, I only saw people praising it, as soon as that video dropped everyone stopped praising it and realizing not only was it a dogshit call of duty ground war clone, it was just broken.

I hear a lot of people say Fallout 3 is a good game just not a good Fallout game a lot because it's missing things previous Fallouts have, but I'm not exactly able to speak on that nor the subject.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
Ratchet Deadlocked is the red-headed step child of the PS2 Ratchet and Clank games and it deserves every complaint it gets, but I love the game. It has the best gun customization of any past/future R&C game with dozens and dozens of different ways to mod them and the gunplay itself was perfected.

Ace Combat 6 has a cheesy story with cringe characters but I love it mainly for the scale and how absolutely fucken nuts the battles get. The game does a fantastic job of making you feel like you're in this massive all-out war between 2 countries.

I enjoyed Fallout 3 and all the DLC that came with it. It's the game that got me into the series and the lore as well. I don't care about anyone's 10 hour Youtube video dissecting every pixel of Fallout 3 and comparing it to New Vegas no matter how many times it pops up on my recommendations.

Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 I love but MAINLY for all the actors they chose and just how over the top everything is. You have Tim Curry leading the Soviets, JK Simmons leading the Allies, and George Takei leading the Empire of the Rising Sun. It doesn't get any better than that.

It's really fun and there's tons of shit to blow up in every mission, it can get overwhelming sometimes.

My biggest gripe with Ace Combat 7 was that you couldn't use an A-10 for an entire mission because a lot of missions would start off as mostly ground attacks but then switch to mainly air and you get blasted out of the sky by Fulcrums, F-15s, and other fighters the A-10 can't keep up with.

In Ace Combat 6 there's missions where you can sit back and drop Fuel Air Bombs on everything in sight safely in your A-10.

emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
I remember the munchkins on old Bnet frothing at the mouth over Reach when it first came out. Looking back now it's aged like wine and the hate was totally undeserved given the subsequent games that followed.

Skyrim is not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. Is the combat clunky and the gameplay very handholdy? Sure. But to call it a poor elder scrolls or even a bad game in general is pretty unwarranted when you consider the amount of content it has.

And reticule bloom, and the DMR, and the Sniper Rifle destroying everything, and the same looking Forge maps, and the paper vehicles, and the no ranking system, and the bored voice actors, and the lack of a Alpha Zombie until a year after release, and the sword block, and the only 2 Invasion maps

I'm really not bad at reach, anytime I play it's mp with friends on MCC I clap, but it's definitely not the best thing in the world by any stretch. I actually liked it better when it came out as compared to now, because I was younger and happy to have a new halo game.

The first Drakengard. Very shitty gameplay even by PS2 hack and slash standards, but the mindlessness of killing perhaps thousands per level was exhilarating. That the story getting increasingly deranged per route (my favourite part, ending D being the best imho) got it universally panned is tragic, but knowing it lead to Nier and Automata is pretty awesome though. Caim is still my favourite protagonist/anti-villain, and he was the Red-Eye.

Starfox Adventures as well. Fucked with the formula, but it was genuinely a fun game. Some parts were unnecessarily difficult or dragged out far longer than they needed to be, but overall it was lit af. I imagine its current status as the pariah of the series comes mostly from how hard it enabled furries due to Crystal.

Twilight Princess, too. Yeah, the beginning dragged, but the tone was awesome. Wind Waker might be my favourite Zelda, but TP holds a special place in my heart. Also had the best companion, so a brownie point for it there. Wii version was fun as hell, as well. SS might have been a superior revision, but TP as a OoT copy-paste it still did everything significantly better than Skyward.

City in the Sky, Ancient Cistern (Koloktos being my favourite boss of all time), and the Forest Temple from Ocarina were all so excellent that I wish most games could follow up to Zelda's ingenuity. The variety they can come up with is insane at times.

TP easily my favourite. City in the Sky was a bit of a drag for me because the first time I played it I was like 14 hours into a session playing and my power went out briefly, wiping my progress in that dungeon I was like 75% of the way through and I decided to go ahead and finish it anyway before bed. I was absolutely addicted lmao

Road Rashj 64. More niche than unpopular, but other people that have a vested interest in the franchise much prefer the PC game over it (and fair enough that game slapped too). It's just nonstop slapstick comedy to me with a physics engine that really promotes a fun experience at all times. There's nothing grindy or tedious about it it's just plug game in, turn on and have fun.

Is TP considered widely disliked?

I thought it was basically the most renowned Zelda between the 64 ones and BOTW?
