Star Fox: We know the team is famous, and so were the members before them. But to see people's reactions when a member of team Star Fox flies by would really nail it. And knowing more about Corneria, it's military, etc. Instead of just getting a very minimal story that gives me the reasoning for why I'm killing scores of enemy ships.

F Zero: Capt. Falcon is not just a racer, but a bounty hunter too. He has his Blue Falcon racer, but also his personal ship the Falcon Flyer. All we do is race. Let's really explore Captain Falcons character, occupations, etc. Sure you do a tiny bit of bounty hunting in fzero-gx but it involves racing.

I just always liked Falco and Fox's appearance. Wolf is kind of cool, too.

Star Fox 64 is generally the most popular. No ground combat, just being in an arwing, landmaster, and the submarine (I forget the name, I think it's Blue Marine).

Just a rail shooter, except for boss fights where you'd enter all range mode. Then it's dogfighting.

Adventures and Assault are pretty mixed. I liked them both initially but Assault's ground combat controls got pretty irritating. I do enjoy the series and the universe though.

Though you are basically distant in learning about the universe. Everything you learn about the worlds, factions, etc is from your ship. Distant.

Marathon and System Shock. I'd say Destiny but exploring deeper than the game is already almost a requirement to extract any depth from the game's narrative.

Gears of War. I found the Pendulum Wars story arks in the books to be more interesting than the current timeline the books are set in. Having games and books just about that war would be great. Then for the Locust they are one of those things that can have a very deep back story but due to the type of game they are in that's not going to happen. If Gears of War was a different type of game or it was made by a different developer like CD Project then the lore to them would be deep.

For Fallout it would be a nice change to have games that take place outside the US like in China since they were the primary rival of the US. What would also be nice is having a game where we start out being born at an Enclave base or vault and we do main story quests for them.

I agree on Gears of War. We're on this fictional planet, it's not even earth.

And I've never played Fallout.

Besides the fact that it's literally just Earth with a different name?
The only real difference is the existence of Emulsion and the Locust.

Gears is one of the most uninspired universes around.

And yet that's a difference. Plus there are no recognizable landmarks, anything like that.

So it's not Earth. It's not super creative but it still isn't Earth.

Yeah, it's geographically different, obviously. Sera is still the in-universe equivalent of Earth, though.
So yeah, for all intents and purposes, it's Earth.

Destiny tbh. When I played the beta I was actually interested to see how all the factions and storylines would play out with Bungie's promise of "a massive solar-system sized game world"

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.

I agree.

I've been playing through it slowly and literally all I've seen lore wise is teasers.

E.g. Bill Nighy basically saying "I could tell you about the battle and what's going on, but can't due to writer and time constraints".

Also, the Guardians. Not sure if they ever go into it more later on, but other than ghosts resurrecting them there's little explanation why, and from what time zones or events they came from originally. Kinda dissapointed on the lore side.

As for other game universes, Borderlands and Destroy All Humans come to mind, maybe Rachet and Clank.

Fallout is pretty covered tbh. OPEC got invaded by Europe until the oil ran out and Tel Aviv got nuked, Europe devolved and then killed themselves from within (Most EU/Brit characters describe it as a harsher place to survive than the Wastelands of the West Coast), and China was virtually vapourised as the US had more firepower. Russia has clearly survived because of the odd russian blokes in DC and Boston, although being surrounded on all sides by hell is probably not helping it. The rest of Asia and Australia isn't mentioned (assuming China's aggression led it to take them over beforehand, if present conflicts over territorial waters are to be exaggerated in the Fallout Universe).
