Trophies/Achievements

What's your opinion on them? Personally when I first start a game I don't really go out of my way to get them, but if I take a look at the trophy list and see that the platinum is within reason I make an effort to go for it. I really do love hearing that ping sound and seeing my level go up, it's so satisfying. It's like having a nice little collection.

I only really go out of my way for achievements if they unlock something ingame. Though that isn't really a thing that happens anymore

I 100% games I enjoy. Did Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim, Halo Reach, Halo 4, Lego Star Wars The Clone Wars, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 4 and nearly Fallout 4.

Same. I did Fallout 3 back on the Xbox but I dunno if I wanna do it again. Fallout 4 felt like a real drag towards the end, though...

And BF4 seems doable, all I have left to do is beat it on Hard and get all the codex entries

Battlefield 4 didn't have codex entries. Did you mean BF1?

Also the only FO4 ones I'm missing are Nuka World - kill 40 creatures while under the effect of Nuka and win 1,000,000 tickets on the minigames. One of those I'd have to do the DLC again because the fuckin creatures stop spawning once you complete it and the other is a grind I can't be arsed with. Base game and 5/6 dlcs (for what four of those five are worth) I've 100%'ed though.

I appreciate their existence as a way to encourage experiencing a game in its entirety, but too often are there trophies that are just too grindy/tedious to obtain for me to care all that much about platinuming a game.

I've all but platinumed the first Ratchet & Clank on the HD Collection, because the game wants me to collect a million bolts without any bolt multipliers (because they weren't a thing in that game). There's actually a glitch that allows you to collect bolts indefinitely while remaining idle, but in order to collect a million, I'm gonna have to let it sit there for an uncomfortably long amount of time. It's just dumb.

Not to mention, sometimes there are trophies that you can only achieve through netplay. These ones are stupid, because game communities dwindle over time, and eventually, no one is ever going to reliably be able to do them all—especially if you don't have any friends. Or if you have friends, but you don't want to bother them with this stupid meaningless task.

Was going to make it a goal of mine to get all achievements for every game i bought when i migrated to ps4.

Got bored after my fourth plat trophy. Bloodborne, DaS2, Witcher 3 and something else. Now i could care less about them, unless they're some sort of unlockable content ingame.

the only games i ever felt handled the trophies idea well was the infamous games. they just encourage you to play the game in its entirety.

I never gave a rat's ass about achievements. The only game I had gotten all of them for was Reach(before they released the DLC) because they were super easy.

Gears of War 3 made use of them since some cool weapon skins were available only if you had achievements from the previous games.

Encouraged me to play co-op on Gears of War 2 with a mate just for a silver Lancer.

Fuck the "Seriously/2.0/3.0" achievements though. Tedious and only show that you need to get outside more than anything else.

I don't actively go for them, I probably would if so many didn't have unnecessary grinds or you have to do some obscure out of the way actions for them, and you could get them through game progression and completion

I don't really tend to go out of my way to unlock all the achievements for games, but I really feel like I need to crack out Halo 1 Anniversary and get this last achievement to sate my autism over not having it

I also got 100% of the achievements for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
