Total War: Attila Age of Charlemagne night

With the release in 4 days and Christmas break coming up I was wondering if any of you cucks wanted to join Nick and I in playing some TW. We're most likely gonna be playing on either Friday or the weekend depending on everyone's preference.

What faction are you guys playing as? I'm surprised you can't play as Wessex since that is what heavily influenced modern England. But I guess at the time Mercia was the strongest.

I know mods will add it in.

I might play as the Kingdom of Mercia, starting out in Britain will make it a lot easier to conquer then when I've done that I can move south and kill Charlemagne and that stupid owl.

I was going to play as the Avars because they have better cavalry units but I also just read that cavalry charges have been nerfed so no more steamrolling through a band of missile infantry ; _ ;

Well I make about £50 on average each week

Some gets spent on food/drink/household stuff, the rest gets saved up. So it's around about 60% saved per week.

So that'd be £120 saved per month, at the lowest.
Whiiiiiiiiiiiich isn't a huge amount so it'll take me a while all the same >_>

I know I said I wouldn't play until my exams were over but I couldn't help it. I like the changes so far I only got 30 minutes in so I've barely scratched the surface but I think this will shape up to be a good dlc man

Yeah, the unit card designs are throwing me off a little since I'm so used to base Attila's unit card, but as a whole I'm really enjoying this DLC. The war exhaustion rating is bothersome, but enjoyable as a new game mechanic.

And I see that the cavalry charges aren't completely nerf'd as I feared, which is good. It's probably the best charge I've seen in a long time.

you can't field cavalry, but those guys can break infantry defenses by sheer force of will

also the berzerkers are so fucking fun to use.

it's alright

wish cities were a medieval design rather than attila design

otherwise the main differences are that cav is less good, most factions have fewer units(but the ones you have are good), and enemy AI will actually settle peace now.

I'm honestly rather annoyed that garrison armies don't exist anymore. If you don't have an army stationed in a city and it gets attacked by even one stack of enemies, it's immediately their territory. The back and forth is starting to grow a bit weary.

I really don't know. It happened as Lombardy, Charlemagne and Mercia. Every time an invading force would reach my city, they instantly take it over. The only "garrison" is if I have a Governor in the city/town, and he's the only poor fucker to stand against the enemy.

It provides some contrast to the Grand Campaign and The Last Roman. I can't speak to how over-powered Charlemagne is, since I've only played the Danes and the Mercians and I've mostly spent those two campaigns rampaging around the British Isles without much thought to the rest of the continent.

Battle pace feels a little slower than the main game, which is honestly an improvement in my eyes.

That sounds like a glitch, but I did a quick search and haven't seen anything about it on the internet. Odd.

not going after the british isles as the danes basically left me lacking food for like ten turns, they really must not have expected you to wreck the slavs and expand southward.
