male, he/him

dracula can eat my whole ass!
I'm not letting my emotions dictate this though. I've gone back time and time again, even a few weeks ago. In fact it's only been recently I've come to many of the conclusions I have. Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE the game. I enjoy the stealth with no reflex mode on. It's really intense and you have to be careful. I sometimes don't even choose the Sneaking Suit just to keep to the vanilla look, as well as increase the difficulty.

It's just running from place to place gets old very very quickly, along with the intro to missions with the credits and all that. I should specify I don't hate the game I guess. I'm just disappointed at a lot of things in it because it's easily in my top 3 series.

yeah you're right, the downtime between missions, the open and empty spaces, etc. really hamper the experience to vets like us

but honestly these things only start to bother you after long ass time, and don't really bring the game down all that much. it's legitimate criticism no doubt but i feel like folks latch onto those details to hide their dissatisfaction with the lack of story and its direction.

i'm just saying -- in a fight between 2 50$ games, he's going to get his money out of mgsv - for sure. i can't comment on tw3, i haven't played it.

MGS V has easily been worth the money I've payed. I just wish it held up like Peace Walker's story which captured me towards the end, or hell even Ground Zeroes with that story and hype.

But in games that require you to dump hours and hours into it like MGS V, of course it'll wear on you. TW3 is also open world, which is getting old for me, but it makes up for it with how well the writing is. The side quests are easily better than any side quest I've played in most RPG's.

emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
The one reason I want to try this out is so I can see how shitty the combat system REALLY is.

It doesn't seem like anyone likes it except Witcher fans.
It's got a steep learning curve which can put off entry level players but it really isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. If you gave up on the game because of combat then you're just shit, no two ways about it really.

I never bothered playing Witcher 1 & 2, Witcher 3 was my first for the series and I absolutely adored it.

that's an interesting thing to grow tired of

i mean, i'm sort of tired of it too, but only to the extent where it's done badly

i always appreciate a well-done open world, though (BotW better do it the fuck right)

The Witcher 3 was the first Witcher game I truly played (Witcher 2 would always freeze up on my xbox following the tutorial), and the combat really was off-putting, making me not play the game for a solid day or two.  But when I started to play the game more and more, the combat felt like second nature.  It's not as terrible as everyone makes it out to be.

Generic manly voice that always says something everyone responds to with disgust

Honestly, if Geralt wasn't an alpha male Witcher he'd be browsing r9k

It's because when he was receiving his Witcher mutations, all emotions were sapped from him.

No man, I just fucked up badly.

Like, an option was "what's the rush" and I thought it was cheeky, but when I clicked it Geralt started talking about romance in front of everyone. It was a bit cringe inducing. Then when I was gonna talk to the emperor I bowed, and he was disgusted by it. When Yen was talking about how Ciri had grown up I responded with ""Our" contacts" and she got defensive.

Luckily the save system fucked me back to fighting the griffin, so I got to redo it all.

I'm just getting tired of the open world where you do 3 things.

1. Run around collecting shit

2. Fighting at specific places to unlock fast travel areas (like Farcry 3)

3. Running across the world map for a quest simply to make you run all the way back.

Witcher 3 doesn't do number 2 that much, nor 3, but it's still an effort to do sometimes.

Lack of sex scenes would not change my opinion on the game. In fact, it's completely autistic to judge a game based on whether it has tits or not. TW3's nudity wasn't handled immaturely anyway.
i'm sure it wasn't

Oh, hey.
Never played any Witcher games, got it like a month ago, and it was pretty amazing. It ran surprisingly well on the X1 and rarely dropped frames. The combat isn't perfect but it is fun. The story and characters, as well as the atmosphere is pretty great.

Perfect game? No, but its a solid 9 in my book

I was genuinely impressed with the game, and I was on the fence about it since it came out.

Oh, right. It ain't mature if she ain't wearing a hijab.
Let me guess, you've recently been politically active, and now you're looking for an excuse to express your beliefs? Well not in my thread you won't, and certainly not with such a poor starter.

Off you go, get out of my thread!

I like the stories, or maybe I'm just content with them because I'm not doing anything better, but the combat system is literally 5/10. I do however love the environment. Horse riding is bad, combat system is bad, movement is 5/10, but I suppose everything else is okay.

5/10 is mediocre

8/10 is pretty decent
9/10 is high quality
10/10 is the perfect game

This game receives a 7.5/10 from me

edit: so far. I've heard that it packs a lot of content, and if I'm gonna play it a lot, then I'll raise the score to a 8/10.

Still, I spent like 90 or 60 hours on Dark Souls 3 when it took me about 20 hours to beat it. There weren't any new quests or anything, it was just that I enjoyed the gameplay, the fighting system was fun, and there was some PVP I could play to try out my skills. Take away the environment and quests from Witcher and you have nothing.

To put it this way, I never replay games for another play through or new game + unless I'm genuinely impressed or enjoy the game. I did two full playthroughs in this game.

The combat gets really fun when your fighting enemies stronger then you. For example my favorite fight I had was with a rock troll 10 levels above me, it was a long fight that ended with me having no potions and very little health, or the royal griffin you have to kill later on to unlock better armor crafting. If your on par it feels mediocre. I agree movement is a little odd but its not broken.
