In all honesty, he's an idiot. He seriously believes that you should play a different game if you use mods. Except the game isn't bad. It's just fun to mod so you get more replayability out of it after you've done everything and played hundreds of hours. This is simple logic. Mods enhance an already fun game.

Best mod I've ever played was Third Age for Total War Medieval 2. Never have I seen a mod as well made as it. Everything is taken care of.Character and building models, soundtracks, factions, everything. There's even a full new campaign (on top of the standard total war campaign) with an unlockable faction.I think it has to be the only total conversion mod I've been able to play and enjoy completely as a game in it's own right without being reminded that it's just a mod at every turn. Feels entirely like a new game.SpoilerAt the moment though I'm playing "A World of Ice and Fire" for Mount & Blade. It's not completed yet, but what they've done so far is just awesome.
