Premise: One night a year, all crime is legal. Gangs rove the streets to kill each other and those left out in the open. Residences and stores are broken into for theft and security.

Game idea: A 12-hour roguelike, real-time campaign that you can play over and over, with randomly generated scenarios like maps, gangs, characters, etc. Co-op would allow you to play with a limited number of friends or invade others' games to hunt them. Online multiplayer could take the form of arena gang wars, free for all matches, and matchmaking of the co-op mode, both aggressive and defending.

I'd play the shit out of this.

Have some sort of process that generates a random event like a break-in or something if you stay in the same area too long.

This is just spitballing, obviously, but I don't think you'd have any fun sitting in a house for 12 hours.

Oh man, I'd dig that. I was thinking along the lines of DayZ where you start powerless and have to survive and collect materials, but I could see a horror-survival type thing just trying to make it through the night.

We need more actual survivor type games out there. But really, carefully done. It would need to fall between two categories. Offensive fighting, and helpless survivor like amnesia or alien isolation.

The premise that you're not a soldier but that you have to be inventive in what you do.

The concept itself is simple. Stealth, stealthy fighting, and a craft system. But what survival games never nail is the craft system. You know how many regular household items can be used as makeshift weapons? Something as simple as a key, or a very tightly wrapped newspaper.

Engineer and fine tune a noise system based on fights and encounters with what weapons you have. Stats for lethality, noise generated, weight, and the skill required to use them.

Toss in food, water, sleep depravation, and injury effects that can't be healed away in one go, but instead can only be fully fixed at a checkpoint sort of system, that being safety. A place to rest and hide.

If somebody could make that. A zombie game. A game set in a city that's gone crazy.

If they could do it and actually do it well.

It'd be fucking gold.

There's actually quite a few actually good servers on Gmod that grasp the concept of the purge. Its pretty much DarkRP except you can rdm people when the purge comes into play

DarkRP can be a grind tho. Besides the one time I was a hobo and an admin came by and gave me thousands of dollars. So I fueled my own secret hobo gang and we killed everyone. Hue
