Bungie in general is spectacular at emotional/atmospheric storytelling like that. Even without a proper plot and repetitive bosses the fight in the Black Garden was awesome, in no small part due to the music.
Eh, Marty's music just doesn't go with Destiny IMO. Talented but I just get a Halo vibe from his music. He'd be better suited working with 343i
