Telltale Games (close to) shutting down

They've been going through some troubles for a few years but now they're near enough done for good.

Massive layoffs (225 employees) this morning, leaving only 25 employees to finish off the current series of The Walking Dead, which was actually off to a really good start.

Pretty gutted about this, was a big fan of a lot of their games, particularly their Walking Dead ones. Will feel a bit weird not having a new series to look forward too every couple of years. Shame that their other stuff like Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us will never get their sequels.

Turns out that the former CEO had sued the company, despite him being the one leading them to make all of these shitty business decisions over the past few years. So basically this one guy's petty revenge plot combined with his own shitty management has contributed to 225 people losing their jobs.

What a wonderful individual. It really is a shame to see what happened to them, it feels like they saw the success of TWD and took on a lot of projects and made a few other bad choices like sticking with the same engine for years plus the rapid expansion. Hopefully everyone affected can get more work soon.

Sucks to see so many people lose their jobs like this. But I do wish it was evidence of a trend that people are beginning to actually want gameplay in their games, rather than some scumbag CEO being a dumbfuck.

i was reading that even the final season of the walking dead was canceled. this true?

if so, that must suck, im pretty sure it just began too

i am a bit saddened by it, i enjoyed their games most of the time, buggy and simple as they were

Apparently it's cancelled and they're working on Netflix Minecraft Story Mode instead.

Their final season to the game that put them on the map will remain unfinished but thank fuck we get fucking Minecraft still.

Well that's poopy. Wasn't a huge fan overall but it's pretty disappointing knowing that all that time and effort put into those characters and their stories is now going to be left unfinished. That's really got to suck for fans of TWD.
