I had seen some footage of gameplay, but I'm assuming it was leaked because the video is nowhere to be found now. I'll try to describe it, hopefully someone else might have seen it and knows what I'm talking about here.

The player basically just camped up on a rock and killed anything that moved for half of the video, generally ignoring the objectives. He was in first place, far and away from anyone else. Seemed like the one gun he used was sufficient for pretty much any situation--close range, medium range, even long range against snipers. IIRC the grenade launcher only had a cooldown timer, no ammo limit or anything--the grenades fly fast and far and explode on impact, with nice splash damage, so you can pretty much just fire anywhere for a guaranteed kill.

But on the bright side, the graphics are nice and the particle effects are spot-on with the original trilogy, there's just a shit ton more of them.

If this beta is buggy I don't see how they'll fix major bugs in a month's time. I also don't have much faith for AC: Syndicate or Fallout 4 on consoles. The track record with the 3 companies in question aren't exactly stellar.

Even before online became as big as it is now games were still released broken or incomplete. For single player bugs if a developer released a game with them all fixed that would take years which is something that's not practical at all. The best way to fix them is to release the game as best as you can and have the players report them which is a lot faster than the developers finding them. Also Battlefront is still in development so this problem may be fixed by the time it's released.

Yes, that was in the past where technology was significantly less developed than it is today.

I'm sick of people excusing half assed 'slapped together in a couple of months' types of developers. We, as paying customers, should not have to be dealing with this shit. It's inexcusable.

And I'm not talking about the occasional glitch every once in a blue moon that ruins the immersion for a couple of minutes. Those are inevitable. I'm talking about real game breaking, lazy cop out features that totally eviscerate the fun out of the game, if it had any in the first place.

If it's an Alpha build, then balancing issues are perfectly acceptable. I mean, it's just a matter of the weapons not being balanced yet for live gameplay. That's why they have internal testing before they release playable builds to the public.

There's people who've played Syndicate that claim it's fine, and others claiming it's broken. We'll see in a month who was right.
But after last year, I'm leaning towards the former, considering that Syndicate is pretty scaled back and unambitious compared to Unity, and that Ubi don't want to kill their biggest franchise.

Halo 5 is the least likely game to be broken this fall, considering we had a beta 10 months in advance, and that the game has been constantly tested since then, coupled with the fact that it's being developed in-house by 343i, unlike the outsourced clusterfuck of the MCC.

If the issue is balancing then I think it's rather premature to call the game "broken." It's the alpha, and weapon balancing can be fixed.

Regardless, we'll see how the game is on Oct. 8th when the open beta releases.
