Disagree. If you're playing on "crushing" difficulty, expect to get crushed. That's kinda the idea.Either get better, or lower the difficulty
--or play a game you actually like, for that matter.
If playing at higher difficulties isn't fun for you, then just don't bother. That's precisely why there are difficulty options in the first place. I just hate this notion that games need to be made easier for people who suck, when, no, they shouldn't.

I don't understand why you think graphics don't matter. Games are often, if not always, meant to have some artistic input, and the integration of very realistic-looking environments or models can make a game experience much more immersive. Games like Red Dead Redemption thrive off of the aesthetic appeal of the environments, and I can certainly say that the experience wouldn't be nearly as great if the game looked like trash.

It doesn't happen often but I still think it's a bit dumb to be rating games based solely on skill, when a majority of the people in those threads wouldn't give two shits about the top level competitive metagame under any other circumstances.Everybody already knows that Quake is the best anyways.

In fact, it's LESS immersive, because the more realistic something is, the more attune your brain is to finding every little imperfection--whereas in a more stylized game, you can naturally accept anything that you see, and be immersed.
